NeNe Leakes is probably the only star in the “Real Housewives” franchise who was able to take her reality television stardom and launch a real acting career. NeNe has always had a passion for acting, and after she blew up on “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” she was able to book two roles on two major shows, “The New Normal” and “Glee.” Although the star recently confirmed that she and ex hubby Gregg Leakes got their own spinoff show that will focus on their upcoming nuptials (I Dream of NeNe), it looks like her new show on Bravo couldn’t have come at a better time. According to multiple reports, her show “The New Normal” was cancelled by NBC.  Zap2It reports:

NBC, continuing the purge of their comedy division, has canceled first-year series “The New Normal.”

The semi-autobiographical comedy from “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler is the last of the Peacock network’s comedies to learn its fate, joining Tuesday companion “Go On,” among many more, in the trash heap. Of the 11 comedies to air on the network this year, only “Parks and Recreation” and “Community” earned renewals.

“The New Normal” starred Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells as a gay couple starting a family via surrogacy. The show, Murphy’s first half-hour comedy, also starred Georgia King, Bebe Wood, NeNe Leakes and Ellen Barkin.

In more TV cancellation news for NBC, actress Meagan Good’s “Deception” also got axed, as the network confirmed ratings were too low for it to renew the show for a second season.

  1. I think she knew this was coming. And that’s most likely why she went ahead and went for the spinoff with Bravo now. Well, she still has Glee I guess.

    1. Right. God don’t like ugly. She needs to humble herself. Anything can be taken away at any time.

  2. Not surprised at all. If she doesn’t humble herself soon she’ll have more even more disappointments from “Hollywood.”

  3. Being the real NeNe is what made us love her and then she turned into “I can’t” and it came back to her and the people who have the power to give the New Normal a second season said “We can’t” ….God don’t like ugly and NeNe changed into such an ugly person.

  4. I liked the show, I thought it was pretty good and I thought she did good on it. Sucks that its getting canceled as well as other shows. But thats what comes with show business. One minute you got a show the next they axe yo a-s. Good thing she has a back up plain.
