Jay-Z’s success in the sports industry has continued to be on the rise as his company is on a roll with the major deals that they are landing. Yet and still, Jay is doing it big when it comes to the music side of things. Jay-Z was given the chance to put his musical touch on The Great Gatsby movie soundtrack as the rapper took on the task as the producer of the album. And he brought his wife Beyonce’ on board for one of the songs as she teamed up with Andre 3000 for the remake of Amy Winehouse’s song “Back to Black”. The news of Bey and Andre’s remake didn’t thrill everybody. Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch Winehouse was one of those people as he claimed that Beyonce’ and Jay-Z didn’t get his blessing to do a remake of his daughter’s song and had some words for Andre’s verse on the remake too. Regardless of who had doubts about Jay-Z’s production skills when it came to the soundtrack, the numbers are in and they are most definitely in Jay’s favor as The Great Gatsby soundtrack is on track to sell over the projected numbers according to Billboard:

The all-star soundtrack to the film “The Great Gatsby” is off to a fast start. Industry forecasters suggest the new compilation album, which was released this past Tuesday (May 7), might sell over 100,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday (12). That’s bigger than what was projected two days ago, when sources were indicating a launch of around 90,000 to 95,000.

“The Great Gatsby’s” hefty sales should easily grant the title a debut at No. 2 next week on the Billboard 200 chart. Standing in its way will be Lady Antebellum’s new “Golden,” which will likely bow at No. 1 with around 150,000.

Much props to Jay-Z.
