While “American Idol” continues to struggle in ratings, “The Voice” has managed to achieve some of the best ratings it’s had in seasons and many suspect the success has plenty to do with the newbie judges Shakira and Usher. Since both seem to be bringing so many good things to the show, many assume both would return next season as judges. However, reports now suggest that both Shakira and Usher will instead will not return next season and the two original judges they replaced, Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera will get invited back for the upcoming season. According to reports, Usher and Shakira planned to pursue other projects in the meantime. However, insiders say it’s a possibility Usher and Shakira could return for a future season. US Weekly reports:

Musical chairs, indeed. As The Voice continues through season 4, the big names who will fill the four coaches’ chairs continue to rotate. An insider confirms to Us Weekly that Christina Aguilera will be returning for the fifth season of the hit NBC vocal competition, and Cee Lo Green is looking to make a comeback as well.

Meanwhile, the source tells Us, this season’s newbies, Shakira and Usher, will both likely be taking time off from the show — though they may return in the future.

“Shakira wants to take a season off to take care of the baby,” the source explained. “She has an option to come back too. And Usher is doing a movie, so he couldn’t do season 5 if they wanted him to.”

  1. Awwww. The Voice is my favorite singing competition show! And Usher and Shakira are bringing great energy to the show. I can deal with Cee Lo but Christina (as much as her I love her voice) was a real biotch on the show with a stank attitude. They need to find a new female, someone who’s not a diva!
