Jay-Z’s new deal with Samsung was confirmed last night and according to the details revealed in several reports, the rapper will give away one million copies of his upcoming album “Magna Carta Holy Grain” a few days before the official release date for select Samsung devices. The tech company also confirmed more insight on the making of the album will also be revealed through an app, which will be available for download later this month. While the deal itself puts more millions into Jay-Z’s pockets, it’s also being claimed that the deal will also guarantee Jay-Z another platinum record. And with super producers such as Timbaland and Swizz Beatz contributing to the new music, many are highly anticipating the new album. However, music producer A-Trak is not impressed and he made that clear on his Twitter account. According to him, the deal is nothing but a symbol of greed and he even claimed Jay-Z was “corny” to agree to it.

@LowKeyUHTN and the fact that he’s striking all these deals as his creativity is tapping out makes it feel artificial. No story.
@LowKeyUHTN hip hop is everywhere. Jay-Z is everywhere. It’s not as if he was putting on Jay Elec or J Cole. He’s just flexing muscle.
@LowKeyUHTN the reality is, Samsung is gaining more cool points from this than Jay is. And he should be wiser than that.
In rare form, Jay-Z tweeted a series of messages regarding the criticism surrounding his new deal with Samsung and the reports suggesting the album is already platinum given the specifics of the partnership. He also made it clear that he and Kanye are changing the rules of the Hip Hop game:

I knew people was gonna hate but damn that was quick not even 24 hours. But whats funny to me is when Jay-z keeps putting millions in his pocket it’s a problem but when these CEO’s and other powerful rich men do it nobody says nothing. Haters. The deal was smart. 1 he will automatically sell a million albums, IDK if they will be counted or not though. 2. He gets paid millions to release an album on top of album sales. And lastly, he’s interacting with his fans in a new way. Call it what you want, but to me it’s smart.
