Kerry Washington’s husband is a keeper…at least from the information we’ve gathered so far. We think most people are still kind of in shock that the star of “Scandal,” Kerry Washington, is now a married a woman. Most people had no clue she was even dating anyone, but on top of that the beautiful actress managed to get married last month without anyone knowing about it besides her close friends and family members. Now that the secret is out, it didn’t take too long for the media to start doing some digging on Kerry’s new husband Nnamdi Asomugha, and from what everyone has found so far, it looks like to us he is definitely a keeper. Not only is the NFL player just as private about his personal life just like his new wife, but they also share the love of acting (he’s an actor too) and community service. US Weekly reports.

He shares his wife’s love of activism and philanthropy. As the chairman of the Asomugha Foundation, an organization he started with his family, the 49ers cornerback works to provide food, shelter, and scholarships (among other things) to widows and orphans victimized by abuse in Nigeria. He also launched the annual Asomugha College Tour for Scholars, a program that takes high-achieving students on campus tours of top universities around the country. Since 2009, he has been an invited guest and has participated in the Clinton Global Initiative.

Additionally, Asomugha distributes backpacks to incoming freshman at his alma mater, Narbonne, and provides shoes for the football and basketball teams there.

If his love of community service wasn’t enough, it’s also quite impressive that he has a Bachelor’s Degree in corporate finance from University of California, Berkeley, so he’s definitely not a dumb athlete. Nnamdi Asomugha’s parents are also from Nigeria, but he himself was raised in Southern California.

Good job Kerry.

  4. Aww. This just made my day. I’m soooo happy for Kerry. She’s got the lead part on a hit show, a fine man who has some business about himself, and she’s done it all with class. I love it.

  5. Yes! He sounds like he’s a real good dude. I just hope they stay happy. When people find out you’re happy and who’s making you happy, they will try to ruin that.

  6. Aww. He sounds like a keeper to me too. I love to see people falling in love and getting married. Hopefully it works out now that the whole world knows.
