Jay Z may be in the middle of a controversy for his recent comments for legendary actor Harry Belafonte, but he’s had quite a few with his new business venture Roc Nation Sports. After a few investigations turned up short regarding his interactions with a few athletes, it was now suggested he was being investigated for possibly having some not so legal interactions with a college football player looking to turn pro very soon. After USC confirmed they were looking into the reports and a certain Instagram post, it now appears Jigga has once again been cleared from the allegations. All Hip Hop reports:
According to a handwritten statement by the South Carolina’s assistant director of athletics for media relations, Steve Fink, none of the contact between emerging sports agent Jay-Z and Clowney was against NCAA rules:
“Based on the facts that USC has gathered, Jadeveon Clowney has not had any impermissible conversations nor has he received any impermissible benefits.”
While improper contact between sports agents and collegiate athletes has been an epidemic for decades, NCAA rules allow contact as long as the agent pays for nothing for the player during the contact, including meals and transportation.
Interestingly enough, Jay Z recently made it clear in an interview he isn’t fazed by all the investigations his new sports agency keeps getting slapped with. The rapper and business man says he believes the investigations are really just a strategy entities are using to get even with him because with him in the game, they now have to “actually do work.”
Another win.
I’m not surprised. LOL.
I knew nothing would come out of this. Jay Z is a lot of things but stupid isn’t one of them.
Good for him.
