As the country continues to be divided on the non guilty verdict George Zimmerman received for the murder of unarmed black teen Trayvon Martin, many are still talking about how they feel about the trial and the actual verdict. Most notably, there’s been a movement to boycott the entire state of Florida, and even musical artists have made it clear they too support the boycott considering Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Mary Mary have confirmed they won’t be performing in the state until the Stand Your Ground law has been changed. While not all artists are on the boycott Florida tip, some artists have instead decided to attend rallies and offer their support to Trayvon’s parents, and this is the case with superstars Jay Z and Beyonce. Interestingly enough, it now appears some of Zimmerman’s supporters are trying to get even and call for a boycott of Hip Hop’s power couple. Baltimore Sun writer Robert Post writes:
I advocate for a boycott of rapper and record producer Jay-Z and his wife, Beyonce, for their irresponsible impact on modern culture.
He also claims Jay Z’s music is violent and the rapper is a racist who encourages black people think of themselves as victims. The writer then goes on to state his anger with the couple supporting Trayvon Martin’s family:
His ill-considered reactions to the George Zimmerman verdict are obvious evidence that he does not deserve his public position of influence.
In my opinion both he and his wife practice a subtle form of racism — happy to take the money of white people but advocating in their music and comments that white people are inherently racist and dangerous to the black community. Not helpful.
Thoughts?
LOL at them calling someone else racist when they support a non black person racially profiling an unarmed black teen. Talk about irony.
Exactly. And aren’t most of Zimmerman supporters right wing faithfuls anyway? So they were most likely not fans to begin with. Sit down.
robert post george zimmerman they have about how many supporters? and how many supporters does trayvon martin have? crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
White people can’t call anyone else racist. They invented it.
SMH. You have to be in the position of power to be racist. Can’t be racist if you’re black. Idiots.
Eh I’m pretty sure most of Zimmerman’s fans aren’t Beyonce and Jay Z fans anyway. #shrugs
Who cares about these hateful people? I sure don’t. Bey and Jay will be fine.
So we’re supposed to care about what racist people think about Jay Z and Beyonce?
LOL at this. Boycott away. They weren’t fans anyway I’m sure.
F-ck them. I don’t care about Zimmerman and his redneck supporters.
Right, they should do us all a favor……DIE
Jay and Bey have every right to support who they want. This will not change anything.
I don’t think they care. Protest away.
I always chuckle when Zimmerman supporters try to call someone else racist. Pot meet kettle.
Dumbest thing I’ve read all day.
I can’t even take these people seriously. Why? Because they support the killing of an unarmed black teen.
Laughable Zimmerman will face is own personal crimes. Im sure none of GZ Supports are fans to begin with.
Oh please these type of idiots preach one thing but say another they want us to stop boycotting but now they want to start boycotting when they disagree with something. If nobody is boycotting Ted Nugent racist azz they need to leave Bey and Jay alone and have a seat.
Beyonce and Jay Z will be just fine. They have every right to support what they choose. Racists people are the dumbest people ever.
*blank stare* Good luck with that. LOL.
Robert Post trying to gain some notoriety I see lol….won’t piggyback off of 2 very successful, very wealthy, way above your pay grade African Americans!!!!! What a clown, have a seat because you’re a nobody!
Yaay! Good. Riddance.
This is comical. They might as well ask cats, dogs and horses to join the boycott.
I advocate for a boycott of Robert Post! Who’s with me? lol!
That just goes to show you. My mom used to say money talks and bullsh-t walks. Thumbs up to Beyonce and Jay-z for using their star power to promote something positive wished more entertainers did this especially African American ones.
