Rapper Future may have his high-profile relationship with R&B singer Ciara keeping him the headlines, but his music career is actually just as hot as his relationship. The rapper has pretty much became the king of hooks and collaborations ever since T-Pain took a break from music, and Future was even the go to guy for his boo’s Ciara smash hit single “Body Party” as he helped pen the song’s lyrics. Although Future has worked with some of the biggest names in music thus far, it appears he feels he still hasn’t gotten the credit he deserves. In fact, Future claims he is a trendsetter when it comes to Hip Hop, yet no one seems to want to admit that.

In a recent interview with Power 106, Future claims his critics need to pay attention to the last 12 months of music and just maybe if they did their research, they would notice he is on the radio more than any other artist at the moment:

“I set trends and it’s about time people started noticing. I’m just being honest. I had ‘Karate Chop’ — I’m just honest. I’m just honest. I had the most songs on the radio this year but they don’t want to give me my credit. [Radio personality] Justin Credible, if I could be as credible as you, I would play nothing but Future.”

While not everyone agrees with Future’s comments regarding him being a trendsetter in Hip Hop, it’s pretty clear Future has plans to do even bigger things in the industry.

  1. I like Future. But he has to understand he’s not doing anything that hasn’t been done before. He’s not a trendsetter at all.

    1. I think the difference is T-Pain can actually sing. He’s also very smart when it comes to making music. But there will never be another Nate Dogg.

  2. I will give Future a little credit he is a hot artist now but it’s all about sustainability in the music industry. You can be hot one minute then fall off without a blink of an eye. He should just ask his girl Ciara. No shade lol

  3. He is on every song on the radio right now but he isn’t a trendsetter. More like a follower. I mean who isn’t using auto tune?
