Another Rapper The Game Twitter rant? With the country still be being divided over George Zimmerman being found not guilty for the murder of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, it’s been made pretty clear the nation continues to struggle with race relations. Even President Obama got real and admitted he believes Trayvon was racially profiled by George Zimmerman on the night of his death, and sadly the president knows all too well what it’s like to be profiled due to the color of your skin. With some entertainers taking a stand and even joining the boycott of Florida and attending rallies in support of Trayvon’s family, it appears people are not willing to give up for the fight for justice. So it’s no surprise rapper Game felt the need to take to his Twitter account in the midst of heightened race issues in the country to slam a restaurant for allegedly being racist towards him.
According to the rapper’s tweets, he was told he was being denied service from a Houston’s in Pasadena, California because he’s covered in tattoos. Game tweets:
NEVER eating @ Houston’s restaurants as long as I live ! Denied service in Pasadena by mgr “Vy Diep” because: I have tattoos on my arms ?!?
Its 90 degrees outside so I have a tank top on & the manager on duty “Vy Diep” says the tattoos on my arms are threatening 2 lunch customers
Houston’s is a popular restaurant chain and the company does push a somewhat strict dress code. Patrons are asked not to wear sleeveless shirts, baseball hats and cutoff shorts. However, The Game thinks racism played a part in his rejection because he claims he saw a patron eating in the restaurant who was wearing a tank top. When one of his followers told him he was overreacting because the restaurant just has a certain dress code, he tweets:
if that’s so… How come the middle eastern guy at the bar with the tank top wasn’t denied ?!?!?
Game also claims it’s the second time he’s been racially profiled at a Houston’s restaurant, with the first incident occurring in a Santa Monica location. He eventually started the #DontEatAtHoustonsPasadena hashtag to encourage his fans to boycott the restaurant after he decided to just go to a California Pizza Kitchen that was happy to serve him, tattoos and all.
So what do you think? Was Game’s rejection from Houston’s about race? Speak on it below.
Well if they didn’t say anything to the other person who had on a tank, I’d say the restaurant was wrong for picking and choosing who they feels has to follow the rules.
*feel
The restaurant was wrong. If you’re going to have a dress code, be fair and make sure you ask EVERYONE to follow it. Not just rappers and people with too many tattoos. They should at least apologize.
Racism? I don’t know about this being racism more like they are picking and choosing what rules to enforce.
I swear all Game does is b-tch on Twitter.
As annoying as Game is, I agree with him on this one. Now had there not have been someone else eating in peace who was obviously breaking the dress code rules too, I would have said he was overreacting. But it’s not fair to deny him service but take the other person with a tank on because they aren’t black with tattoos. The restaurant should apologize and make sure they are asking everyone to follow the rules.
But denying someone for tattoos? That’s a bit much.
Houston’s was wrong. Everyone should be asked to follow the dress code.
That’s why people shouldn’t cover their bodies in all those ugly tattoos. It’s hideous and makes you look trashy. They didn’t want his money and that’s their right. Not because of race, but because he looks like a criminal.
But in the next breath you’ll say Zimmerman shouldn’t have assumed Trayvon was a criminal. Have you learned nothing? Smh.
Thank you.
Having tatts all over your body is your right………BUT be prepared to get your feeling hurt when certain people don’t want to deal with you. I have to agree with “Man Please” it does make you look like if your DIRTY-TRASHY-& A CRIMINAL!! I’m black and when I see people all tatted up like the GAME, they look DISGUSTING to me & my impression of them is “THUG LIFE”!!!!!!
Smh. Terrible. And why have a dress code anyway. It’s not like Houston’s is some swanky restaurant. They are a chain and the dress code thing is silly.
Wow. I don’t blame him for being mad.
This is some bullish-t. I agree with Game, if your wack restaurant is going to have the nerve to have a dress code, at least make sure it applies to all! Not just black people. F-ck that restaurant.
The manager of the restaurant ought to be embarrassed.
I’m with Game. It was wrong to deny him service, but serve the other man who was wearing a tank.
Actually, I was there. Firstly, he was NOT denied service. They politely requested he sit in BAR, because of the DINING ROOM dress code requirements. He wanted to sit in the dinning room. He then made a huge stink, and stormed out on his own. All he had to do to recieve service was to either pit on a shirt at an expensive restaurant or sit happily at the bar. The manager was very respectful through whole event. And as a customer AT THE BAR, there were no other people in the restaurant in tank tops to see, which I could see every person in the bar. It is a very business person lunch there. Most often at lunch time the customer base is dressed in button downs and ties…but not The Game. He’s special.
IF he was told the Tat’s were the problem, NOT that he was in a tank, then the mgr was definitely being racist … and should be sued or charged and fired. IF, as the other dinner said, the tat’s were NOT mentioned and the tank was allowed at the bar, then Game is wrong. IMHO
