A new Miley Cyrus Twitter rant? Miley Cyrus’ complete morph from Disney kid star to bad girl pop star has been met with lots of controversy. In particular, there’s a lot of people who seem to think Miley’s new interest in Hip Hop is pretty phony and self-serving considering she’s been getting quite a bit of attention as a result of the transformation. The singer’s new music has a more Hip Hop feel to it than her previous music and Miley has even compared herself to Lil Kim in the sense that she feels like she has more freedom to be who she really is. However, she did make it clear that she doesn’t want to be the “white Nicki Minaj” and singing will always be her skill.

But as the singer continues to make videos of herself twerking and hanging out with some of Hip Hop’s biggest stars, there are a lot of people who see this as nothing more than a publicity stunt. Miley denies the accusations and claims she is just being herself and exploring different sides to music, but she ended up getting slammed on Twitter recently after a video of her hanging out with French Montana with their collaboration “Ain’t Worried about Nothin” the remix played in the background. The video was released as a preview of the track.

The singer was criticized because in the video she rocked multiple heavy chains and sunglasses and some people called her out for what they feel is “trying too hard.” Some people even dragged her in her mentions and reminded her that she’s still a white girl despite her new image. Miley got annoyed with the tweets and slammed her critics. She tweets:

i know what color my skin is. you can stop with the friendly reminders b*tch.

  1. I hate that some people like to use Hip Hop to revive their careers. She’s the same person who had never heard a Jay Z song a few years ago. Now she’s twerking. Give me a break.

  2. That infamous Paul Mooney quote comes to mind. “Everybody wants to be a n-gga, but don’t nobody want to be a n-gga.”

  3. Why are people even taking this girl so seriously? It’s obvious all of this is for attention. She twerked her way into relevancy. It’s pathetic how easy it is to get attention these days.

  4. Ugg Miley is really getting on my nerves. Yea it’s all fun and good to glorify this so called persona but at the end of the day you still a little disney privileged white girl who wants to glorify the black culture but has no idea what it is to be black or a minority.

    1. Gabriella: You are so right and I wish more people of color would realize this! Kudos to you for seeing past the bs.

  5. Every white girl goes through a time in her life where she wants to be down….*sigh* I’m just going to sit back and watch this trend come and go.
