Is Allen Iverson broke and unable to meet ex-wife’s child support demands? Former NBA star Allen Iverson was known for breaking ankles on the court and managed to land major endorsement deals throughout his career as a professional ball player. Unfortunately, A.I.’s reign in the pros is over and because of it, he has found himself at odds with his ex-wife Tawanna over child support payments. Allen and his former wife have been battling it out in court for some time now as Tawanna accused Allen of not only missing payments but she also claims he stole their children from her requesting A.I. spend time behind bars for not returning the kids to her according to their agreement.
Allen called BS on Tawanna’s claims and didn’t have to face jail time however the child support drama is far from over. As we previously reported, Tawanna Iverson made a request for a judge to make Allen Iverson cough up over $1.2 million in child support in advance to cover the next thirteen years. Tawanna’s request stems from her getting irritated with having to drag her ex-husband back to court for allegedly missing payments and she figures this will nip things in the bud.
Allen Iverson is now speaking out against Tawanna’s new demand for him to pay child support in advance and says he can’t meet his ex-wife’s request because he doesn’t have the funds to do so. According to a report from TMZ, Allen Iverson has filed court documents claiming he doesn’t have enough money to meet Tawanna’s request and wants her to drop the request. A.I. says he is only getting money from his endorsement deal with Reebok which he claims is not nearly enough to meet Tawanna’s child support demands. The former pro baller also makes it clear that he doesn’t appreciate his ex-wife trying to paint him as a deadbeat father as Allen says he has paid over $500,000 in child support this year. No ruling has been made at this time.
