Season five of “Basketball Wives” isn’t doing too hot when it comes down to ratings, and many seem to suspect the show has just run its course. Even Tami Roman says she thinks the show will get the boot from VH1 after this season, and she made it seem like had planned on walking away from the show after the current season in a recent tweet. However, she later clarified she has one more season left to do on her contract, while Eveyln does not and confirmed she doesn’t want to do another season.
The show’s executive producer Shaunie O’Neal has been getting lots of criticism for the show, but now she’s starting to get criticism from women who used to be on both versions of the show in Los Angeles and Miami. And recently BBW stars Meeka Claxton and Jennifer Williams made it clear they believe the show is heading in the wrong direction, while Jennifer revealed being on the show last season took her to one of the darkest moments she’s ever experienced in her life. The YBF caught up with both ladies at a recent event for Pynk Magazine.
When asked if she agrees with Laura Govan’s recent comments about the shows not casting enough wives, Meeka says:
“It’s the truth. Besides Jennifer and myself there wasn’t any. I’m rich. She definitely wasn’t talking about me. My man got a championship ring. She definitely wasn’t talking about us. I got the ring. The wives ring. I agree with her. I felt it wasn’t a true representation of the lifestyle.”
Jennifer Williams gave an update on her personal life post BBW and says she is still dating her boyfriend Cisco and she says the show led her to develop a drinking problem last season:
“I have a boyfriend. We go through our ups and downs. Just like any relationship. One day I’m like, ‘oh I hate him. ‘The next day I’m like ‘I love him.’ I don’t know.
“Honestly I’m in a place where I feel like I was so dependent on my ex that I feel like I need to get me in order [before] I can 100% give myself to someone else. So I’m just really trying to focus on me, be a better person and I’m really career driven and that’s my focus and everything second.
“I was so stressed out last season of basketball wives. I was drinking a lot and I just was not in a happy place.”
I always thought Jen was too good for the show. I’m glad she moved on.
That’s reality TV for you.
She was never cut out to be on that ratchet show. I’m glad she’s happy now.
Boyfriend? Get it Jen.
I’m so glad she’s off this show and done with Evelyn’s trifling a-s. I’m sure life is peaceful now!
Let’s not forget Jen was just as nasty as Evelyn was the first few seasons…
The first couple of seasons I mean…
