Former “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” star K. Michelle has managed to use her reality stardom to ink a record deal with Warner Bros. and her debut studio album “Rebellious Soul” is performing well on the charts. With her first tour on the way, the R&B singer has expressed her excitement with her music career, but it appears she may have ruffled some feathers from some of her own fans over the weekend. K. Michelle hung out with Yandy Smith and several others this weekend, but a fan told Bossip that she was extremely rude in person when she turned down a fan’s request for a photo. And according to an email sent to the website, things got worse on Instagram later. The fan writes:

K Michelle from VH1′s Love & Hip Hop was seen last night at Ricardo’s Restaurant in Harlem and was asked to take a picture with a fan (a young friend of mine). K Michelle rudely replied no, and left the restaurant with co-star Yandy Smith, and friends. After leaving, K posted a picture of herself with friends, i wrote under her picture saying “It must be nice to not take pictures with your fans tonight etc. Thank You For letting a few happy people down tonight….”(visible in her feed)

K Michelle replied and insulted me by writing terrible insults/a racial slur like “Shut Up Monkey Looking Girl…… My job is not to take pictures etc… Get a life and find yourself a new weave supplier etc. ” Her fans proceeded to tag along and cheer her on for bullying and insulting me, a simple fan who admires her but was disappointed in her behavior.

The fan then goes to write that she feels K. Michelle’s behavior is irresponsible considering she considers herself to be a role model and says that she had to endure bullying at the hands of K. Michelle’s loyal fans after the exchange on Instagram.

She also says that she feels it was really tasteless of K. Michelle to call a black woman a monkey considering the country’s long history of racism against African Americans:

Do you think after all African Americans Have Been Through an African American Reality TV Star should be able to refer to a young African American Fan as a monkey?

The email ends in the young woman calling K. Michelle a “monster.” Here’s the actual conversation that took place on K. Michelle’s Instagram:

  1. It was one picture. Sometimes you have to get over yourself and do for the people that helped make you successful. Smh.

  2. Time for K to grow up. She could have explained herself without name calling. These celebs think it’s cute now to curse their own fans out on Twitter & Instagram. Then they have to nerve to pull that whole “I’m just real” card. No you’re not real, you’re unprofessional. Smh.

  3. It really wasn’t that serious for K. Michelle to have said all that. And I think she makes fun of other people’s looks because she’s insecure of her own.

  4. I like K but I can’t defend this ish right here. She is wrong and she better be careful because her fan base are relatively new and they might turn on her. Arrogance and always falling so fast w/ the wrong man is going to her downfall.

  5. Homegirl got the big head like her career is on the same level as Beyoncé and Rihanna’s. Girl most of the world has NEVER even heard of you before. Humble yourself and take the picture. It ain’t like it was a swarm of people asking anyway.

  6. K. Michelle is completely wrong on this one. Now she may want a normal life and she may not have wanted to take the picture at the moment, and that’s cool. But you don’t get on IG and call the girl a monkey when she wasn’t even being nasty. It was uncalled for and reeks of immaturity. These new celebs all try too hard to be so real and in the process they look like childish a-holes. It’s annoying and makes me miss growing up in era where celebs were mysterious and had more class.

  7. She better stop before people stop supporting her. Here today and irrelevant tomorrow. It can happen at the blink of an eye.

      1. Girl I lost this week, terribly. LOL. But I told everyone in the league not to get too comfortable. I always come back. LOL!

  8. These kids have some sh-tty celebrities to look up to these days. These new folks can’t even handle innocent criticism without acting like butt hurt brats. Get these idiots off of Twitter and Instagram pronto.
