Preachers of LA reality show slammed by Bishop T.D. Jakes? In this day and age, any and everybody seems to be making their way into the world of reality television. And the shows have taken cable TV by storm as the ratings for some of reality TV shows have surpassed those of scripted TV shows. Even with all the attention reality TV shows tend to get from viewers as many have deemed them to be their guilty pleasures, there are some folks who aren’t feeling the concept of reality TV, especially when it involves those who deliver God’s word to masses of people. New reality show “Preachers of LA” debuted strong on Oxygen with over a 1 million viewers. However, the show is receiving some heavy criticism from one of the most reputable Christian ministers in the country Bishop T.D. Jakes. Bishop Jakes shared his unfiltered opinion about the new reality TV show to his congregation at the Potter’s House in Dallas, TX this past Sunday morning and he blasted “Preachers of LA,” labeling it as “junk.”
Bishop T.D. Jakes says:
“Now, I know you been watching that junk on TV.
“I want to tell you right now, not one dime of what you’re sowing right now will buy my suit. I want you to know my car is paid for. I want you to know I got my house on my own. I want you to know I’m not bling-blinging. I am not shake and bake. I had money when I came to Dallas and I plan to have some when I leave.
“You did not buy what I got. I had it when I came here. You know I had it when I came here. The devil is a lie! I have sold enough books and produced enough movies. I don’t need your offering to pay for this little slimy suit. So I rebuke that spirit in the name of Jesus Christ.”
Bishop Jakes continues on with his sermon by telling the congregation they are going to continue to build the Kingdom of God like they have been doing and reminds them he is a preacher from Dallas not L.A.:
“We are going to build the Kingdom of God like we have always built the Kingdom of God.
“I’m not from L.A. I’m from Dallas!”
He then defends himself and says he is known for sticking to his word:
“The people who have been here a while can go through my track record and prove when I said something, I did it. When we went after something, we bought it. When we wanted the land, we paid for it. When we wanted the school, we built it. When we went after this church we burned the mortgage on this church.
“You don’t do that kind of business being shake and bake and slimy and—shut up.”
Talking to himself, Bishop T.D. Jakes exclaimed that the reality show needed to get the axe immediately:
“Woo! Pull the plug.”
And he added that the focus should be placed on the ministry and not the actions of ministers who have chosen to join reality TV shows:
“So let the work I’ve done speak for me. You are sowing into good ground. And the 300 families that are employed in this ministry eat from this ministry, work in this ministry, and help us to produce the excellence that we do. The natives all over Kenya drink water because of this ministry. And the hospital in Nairobi survives because of this ministry.”
Bishop Jakes made it clear that his focus is not on the money but the mission of delivering God’s word and helping others in need:
“I do not need you to buy my car. I got this. he said, pausing for an extended period.
“If you appreciate my straightforwardness, give God some praise.”
Shortly after, Bishop Jakes told the congregation:
“I’m a grown man, dog.”

I really don’t know how to feel about this show. It just seems so wrong and it sends such a bad message about the Christian community. It’s just not a good look at all.
The show is so messy. I watched a little bit of it and had to question why these pastors agreed to do this.
They did it because they wanted to be on TV and they wanted the money. I’m not shocked at all. When I heard they were coming out with this show, I knew what time it was.
This show is off the chain. I feel guilty for watching it. LOL.
This show is a guilty pleasure. I only watch because it’s like a train wreck. These men have no shame.
What were these preachers thinking about signing up for a reality show on the same network at Bad Girls Club?
Shameful. People are so desperate to be on TV that they don’t care how foolish they look.

Now why is a preacher comparing himself to Diddy and Jay Z? SMDH!!!!
This is a bad look for all Christians. But just maybe it can be a wake up call. People have to be careful about who they call their pastor. A lot of these people have hidden agendas, and are only in it for fame and money.
Exactly what I was thinking. Their true nature is coming to light.
I have to agree with TD Jakes on this. And the fact that they eep talking about what Jay Z and these rappers are doing is sad. A man of God should not be trying to compare himself to the likes of Diddy and Jay Z. They aren’t supposed to be of this world.
People are mad and getting outraged about this show but they get up every Monday morning and attend some mega church ran by a pulpit pimp. Man get out of here.

I’m glad he called them out. That show is embarrassing and I’m appalled by what I’ve seen so far. And how are you a pastor and you got someone pregnant before marriage while you’re in the middle of a divorce? MESSY.

Ok I keep hearing about this show. I’m going to have to watch the episodes online and see what the hype is about.
First up, pastor Haddon’s wife cheated on him first so he left. He fell in love with another woman and had a child. They are now married so what is your point hater. So because he is a man of God that means that he should stay with a cheater wife who can’t concieve children. These men are not God they are men. Stop holding them to standards that no one can reach.
Chile please. All I know is a pastor should not be having a baby out of wedlock and then get on a reality show and almost fight on camera with another pastor. His wife cheating on him doesn’t give him a pass to shack up with another woman and get her pregnant out of wedlock like the Bible doesn’t state those are sins. That is my point. Got it now?
Sheesh. No one said these people had to be perfect, but they are supposed to be leaders for God. And they obviously aren’t taking their jobs seriously. So they are getting called out like they should be getting called out. Get out your feelings. We are supposed to hold our pastors to a higher standard. If they can’t handle it, they need to find another profession. And this dude needs to find another profession ASAP.
SMH. You know what, it’s comments like this that cause the problems in church now. Do you not understand how serious a pastor’s job is? He is responsible for the souls of the congregation. They are teachers and spiritual guiders. How can they do that when they aren’t living right? I work very hard to live the life God asks of me. I’m not out here having sex before marriage and I work hard to be the Virtuous Woman God wants me to be. So how does it look that a preacher can’t do the same and be willing to make the same sacrifice to be a real man of God? You people just don’t get it. To live the life the bible ask for is to make a lot of sacrifices. These men are too selfish to be pastors and they need to sit down and let those who are the real deal lead. They are mocking God and you are wrong about us holding them to impossible standards. We didn’t create the standard, God did! And they should follow it or step down! No pastor should be having a baby outside of marriage and doing a reality show that mocks the church! Thank God most people on here get it.
So now some of you are excusing a pastor for living with a woman and getting her pregnant out of wedlock. Smh! No wonder the church is in trouble. We give a preachers a pass to act like sinners with no shame and give them are money to live like Jay Z and Diddy. I’m so over the church right now. We are living a lie and asking unqualified preachers to lead us.
Yes, preachers are still human beings and will not be perfect, but they should not knowingly and consciously make the mistakes these men are making. At this point, we can’t even call them mistakes because they know better. Deitrick (however you spell his name) knew that having sex outside of marriage was wrong and not of God. Yet he did it and continued to do it and got a woman pregnant. It doesn’t matter that they are married now. That was not a mistake, it was intentional. He also knows that fighting is not of God and he’s on camera getting ready to fight another preacher. And putting his business on Facebook the way he did was also not something a preacher should have done and he did that too. He is not pastor material. He’s a man who has a lot of maturing and learning to do. But he’s not qualified to lead a church.
This show is a mess. It’s making Christianity appear as if it’s a gimmick or ploy to get on television, not a lifestyle people lead to align themselves with God’s will. But with that said it’s not shocking, we’re paying 15 year olds to broadcast teen motherhood, gold diggers& has-been rappers to air out dirty laundry, and celebrities to “fight” to make shows more appealing. So again, it’s sad, but not shocking.
I understand where most of you are coming from but how many of yall have cheated how many of yall have had sex and or kids out of wedlock? Come on now I know they are preachers pastors or whatever you want to call it and yea maybe they shouldn’t have agreed to do a reality tv show but at the same time I think it does shows that Yes we all are human and no one is perfect and never will be but yet we can be forgiving for our sins still live our life threw god and for god and learn from our mistakes and move forward we all have to remember we shall not judge!
This is a shame. We already have enough people who don’t believe that the Lord is real, now we have “Men of God” on TV acting like heathens.
I almost feel like this is a plot against Christianity. Think about it. Who runs all of these networks? Jews! And Jews don’t believe that Christ is Lord. What better way to discredit Christianity than to display these men, who are supposed to be leading people to Christ, on TV doing the very things that the bible told us not to do?
