Kanye West has been in the headlines all day for his recent proposal to reality star Kim Kardashian, but before the epic engagement; the rapper was making headlines for his controversial opening show to his world tour. As we recently reported, he brought out a white Jesus on stage during his performance, and he left a lot of people confused about what his on stage antics really meant. Kanye recently stopped by Wild 94.9 to explain why he brought the white Jesus on tour, and he even opened up about being accused of being in the Illuminati and why he named his latest album “Yeezus.” Here are the highlights of the interview.
On why he brought a white Jesus on stage, he says:
“Well I had a friend of mine who’s a pastor there as we started discussing how we wanted to deliver it. Now my girl even asked afterward, “Hmm. Is that weird? If Jesus comes on stage or something like that?’ I’m like no, we do plays all the time. People play Jesus. You know what’s awesome about Christianity is we’re allowed to portray God. We’re allowed to draw an image of him. We’re allowed to make movies about him. Other religions are not allowed to do that. So that’s what’s really awesome about Christianity. That’s one of the awesome things.
“It’s a painting. It’s a sculpture. It’s a moving opera. It’s a play. It’s a message. I’m not even going to do any comparisons on that because God knows where my heart is.
“You can have a relationship with Jesus. You can talk to Jesus.”
On why he named his latest album “Yeezus”:
“I’m a performance artist. I’m a believer. Anytime the name Jesus can be used more in our lives, I believe that’s a good thing. Even if it’s the title ‘Yeezus.’
“People want to be like Mike, I want to be like Christ. I keep it 5 years old at all times. I think people have these boundaries of people’s opinions where it holds them back to where they honestly want to create. The biggest point of me having any kind of portrayal is because I wanted to do it.”
And on the Illuminati accusations, Kanye says he thinks people who believe music artists are in the Illuminati are being distracted from the real issues:
“It means some of the distractions is working. The distractions are working. They distract you talking bout, ‘That’s the Illuminati.’ Does anybody know what the Illuminati is supposed to be? What are you talking about right now?”

He’s right. Only God knows his heart. But it’s so hard to tell if he’s being genuine or just looking for attention sometimes.
THIS.
I agree!!!! Sometimes I really can’t tell the difference!!!
*standing ovation*
I think it’s both.
Smh. Kanye means well. It just doesn’t always come out right.
He’s sooo trolling. LOL.
If people actually listened, they would realize he speaks a lot of truth. He’s not the ignorant a-shole the media wants you to think he is.
Cosign. He’s actually a genius. He’s a Gemini so most people will just write him off for crazy. But he’s actually very intelligent.
For someone who claims they don’t give interviews, he sure has been doing a lot of interviews lately. Is Kris Jenner his manager now?
Trying to promote this tour.
I completely agree with what he said about the Illuminati. People swear they have knowledge but they don’t know what they are talking about. But they stay making YouTube videos about it.
You want to be like Jesus? Really Kanye? I can’t tell.
I like what he said about the Illuminati. That’s about it.
Sigh…please get married and quit music. Pretty please.
He sounds like someone who is still trying to find himself. I hope he figures it out one day.
No graven images…..
