At this point of his career, it’s no secret that Kanye West is a perfectionist who takes his craft very seriously. However, the rapper and producer became the target of backlash after it was confirmed that he had named his latest album “Yeezus,” and he boldly told the world that he is a god. Of course Kanye’s stance being a god didn’t sit well with plenty of people, but Kanye blamed the outrage on the fact that he is a black man who happens to rap. He seems to think folks are more bothered by it because he has to audacity to make the claim as a black man. He told BBC Radio 1 in a recent interview:

“When someone comes up and says something like, ‘I am a God,’ everybody says, ‘Who does he think he is?’ I JUST TOLD YOU WHO I THOUGHT I WAS: A GOD. Would it have been better if I had song that said, ‘I am a n—-a,’ or if I had a song that said ‘I am a gangster,’ or if I had a song that said ‘I am a pimp’? All those colors and patinas fit better on a person like me, right? But to say you are a God, especially when you got shipped over to the country that you’re in, and you’re last name is a slave-owner’s, how could you say that? How could you have that mentality?”

Well Kanye may think he’s a god and makes no apologies for it, but that didn’t stop him from bringing Jesus on stage with him for the opening leg of his tour in Seattle.

MTV reports Kanye performed in front of a crowd of around 15,000 people and as we reported recently, Kendrick Lamar was the opening act at the KeyArena. The concert was also reportedly delayed for a couple of hours by Kanye because he wanted to make sure everything was in order for a flawless show.

The audience got hype when a white Jesus appeared on stage, but Kanye also made sure to include a red-eyed demon and mountain as well. Check out a photo and video via some Instagram from a fan below:

  1. Kanye is more concerned with shocking people than making good music now. It’s such a shame because he had so much promise. Oh well. Can’t really say I’m surprised.

  2. When it comes to Kanye and his performances, you have to have an open mind. I heard the show was awesome. I’m sure there was a point behind the white Jesus.

  3. Kanye was an art student before he was a Musician . Let the man be great. Hollywood makes movies about god and no one complain. god did not create man . man create god. Black people are so caught up in a religion that have them is physical and mental slavery for hundreds of years . they have nothing to show for it but misery yet they’re ready to attack anyone who thinks different. brainwash at its best.

    1. So then who created the universe? We did that too? FAIL. I can’t take anyone seriously who can’t even acknowledge that there is something bigger out here than us. That is the epitome of arrogance, ignorance and pride to me.

And people don’t have to love Kanye or be amazed by what he does. Most of us loved his previous works and we can call a spade a spade. This is not good music, it’s not art, and it’s lazy at best. Yeezus is a terrible album, and that’s just the truth. That’s why it’s not selling anymore. Don’t be mad that we aren’t impressed. Not everyone worships Kim and Kanye like you do.

  4. Xedos please have a seat. For someone to always pretend to be so deep on here, why is your grammar always terrible? Anyway, Kanye is just trying to shock people. It’s getting old and I actually prefer his Glow in the Dark tour better. The visuals for that show were amazing. I’m not impressed with a cheap looking statue of a white Jesus and a random mountain. And he’s already done the whole mask thing, so that’s not exciting either. But he was more innovative back then during that tour. Now he’s just about shocking people and it’s boring. It’s kind of like what happened to Lady Gaga. When you focus more on shock value, it’s not art anymore.

  5. As if using the n-word and degrading women was enough……I think it is time for rappers to STOP using images of and making references to God and Jesus. It is borderline blasphemy! Nothing good can come from this…. Kanye is so misguided….I kind of feel sorry for him ever since his mother passed away. I can’t imagine his mother would have been ok with this and advised him otherwise.
