TLC and VH1 just won big with the premiere of the music group’s biopic which focused on their widely successful career in the industry, which of course included some stumbling blocks along the way at the hands of bad contracts and bad business deals. The group made it clear that they mainly hold former manager Pebbles Reid and her former husband producer LA Reid responsible for why they had to file for bankruptcy despite recording platinum records. Pebbles of course denies the accusations and it was rumored that LA Reid didn’t like how he was portrayed in the film. However, it appears none of that has stopped the music executive and girl group from just inking yet another deal.

The Los Angeles Times recently did an interview with T-Boz and Chilli and they confirmed that despite their troubled past with LA Reid and Pebbles, they have signed on to work with LA Reid yet again for their comeback to music. The music exec will collaborate with the group on their upcoming album. T-Boz says:

“You’re always going to disagree about something. It’s a damn record label and he was running it. Of course you’re going to have ups and downs. And just like anybody else, we cuss him out when need be. But it feels natural, like home. It’s a new day and time. We’re putting LaFace back on the map — again.”

LA Reid most recently partnered up with R&B singer Ciara to help her with her comeback as well. And unfortunately, she still wasn’t able to do much better with album sales.

The group has retained the same manager that helped them get out of their financial disaster years ago, Bill Diggins, so there’s no signs of a reconciliation with Pebbles happening any time soon. But are you surprised TLC has agreed to work with LA Reid again considering what happened to them the last time?

  1. So basically they just want to flop because LA Reid hasn’t been able to help anyone for YEARS. He couldn’t even help Whitney. Her last album didn’t do too well.

  2. I just don’t understand why these artists keep going back to LA Reid. He hasn’t been hot in a long time. It’s like Mariah working with Jermaine Dupri again. It’s pointless.

  3. Stupid. And he can’t help them make a comeback. He couldn’t help Ciara and he couldn’t help Whitney and both of them were big stars at one time.

  4. SMH! They are living in the past. LA Reid cannot help them. He may not make them go broke again but he’s not the best person to work with anymore. They should have worked with some of these new hot producers who have an ear for for what’s hot right now. Just look at how he did Ciara. Bad move.

  5. So they basically are not going to make the most out of all that hype that movie got them? LA Reid is not who they need to work with anymore. I hate how he did Ciara. He didn’t really put her in the studio with the right people and he didn’t market her hard enough. He will do them the same way.

  6. LOL honestly I’m not surprised. A lot of artists do this. They b-tch and moan about people screwing them over and then when they get on track and want a hit again they will go right back to those same snakes that helped them go broke. It’s sad but very common.

  7. Nobody else probably wanted to sign them I am just keeping it real nobody knew they were gonna make this kinda come back. J.cole and Drake resurrected their career with those hit songs and the success of the movie.

  8. He is not a producer… he is the head at a label. If these ladies get a hit single then they are right back on the map… It just take one hit for the money to start flowing for them again. Plus I am sure that they have a deal that is favorable to them now, especially that they have the same lawyer/manager that got them out of the situation last time.

    1. He IS a producer though. And if you go to his biography on All Music, it even shows that he is one of the producers of TLC’s 20 album and several other TLC albums. He was the executive producer of Ciara’s last album too and Tamar’s. And he has a lot of producer credits. They signed to the label he’s the head of (Epic) and he will most likely serve as at least an Executive Producer yet again which means he will be very involved. So basically it’s the same exact set up from the last time. I don’t think he will screw them out of money again but I don’t believe had will get them the hit they need. He couldn’t help Ciara or Whitney.

  9. Hey it could have been worse! At least they didn’t pick Stevie J! Waving hello Bells I’ve missed all of you.
