Young Money Records star Drake might have caught some shade from his label mate Nicki Minaj for not having enough YMCMB collaborations on his latest album “Nothing Was the Same,” but the album still managed to become a big time success. In fact, the album was certified gold in its first week and he’s managed to outsell Kanye’s “Yeezus” just one week into sales with 658,000 copies sold. That’s a big deal for Drake considering he considers Kanye one of his idols and he even said recently that his biggest goal professionally is to surpass Kanye musically. Well Drake has managed to do something else Kanye hasn’t done with “Yeezus,” considering “Nothing Was the Same” was just certified platinum.
The Masked Gorilla reports the album has already officially sold 1,029,408 copies. And if that wasn’t good enough, the album he dropped the year before, “Take Care,” also saw a spike in sales now making its total sales 2,082,000 copies.
It’s pretty impressive that Drake managed to go platinum in about a month, especially since most of his peers are struggling to even go gold these days.
Congrats to Drake on yet another platinum album.
Congrats. Love the album.
Congrats Drake!
And the slaying continues.
Well deserved.
I’m not surprised he went platinum already. As sensitive as he can be at times, the album is good.
