Kerry Washington appears to be living one of the happiest moments of her life considering she’s a newlywed expecting her first child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha. However, numerous people have been trying to convince the blogs and mainstream media that the marriage is fake. Even popular sports blogger Terez Owens ran with the rumors several weeks ago, and we told you that we believed the main people trying to push these rumors to the media are out to destroy Kerry’s image. We’re not sure why, but it’s pretty unfortunate to see considering Kerry is the leading black actress at the moment and the buzz surrounding her name is at an all time high. But it’s sadly the price of fame.

Interestingly enough, Terez Owens now claims that he has actual proof that Kerry and Nnamdi are not married. He says he did a thorough check into the public records system in Blaine County, Idaho, the county where the couple reportedly said their “I Dos.” The blogger says absolutely nothing came up when he searched for both parties. But there’s just one problem…Idaho has very strict privacy laws surrounding marriage and divorce records, so he wouldn’t be able to access Kerry’s records anyway.

We’re pretty sure Terez Owens didn’t find any marriage records on Kerry and Nnamdi because in the state of Idaho, marriage and divorce records are sealed for the first 50 years. That means marriage records are not public for the first 50 years and they can’t be pulled up by anyone who doesn’t have permission from the parties they are searching for. The government ran website for the state of Idaho says speficially:

Idaho marriage records and Idaho divorce records are also subject to strict privacy laws, considered legally confidential for 50 years.

And it’s pretty hard to even get a hold of a marriage certificate from Idaho. The site says:

Records are confidential for 50 years. Only immediate family members and legal representatives may obtain recent records, others may obtain records with a notarized release from a family member or person of record.

We think it’s highly unlikely Terez Owens got permission from Kerry (or Nnamdi), her attorney or her family members to search for her marriage certificate. So once again it appears that the rumors suggesting Kerry’s marriage being fake are once again…fake.

It sure is hard to be famous and private these days.

In related news, Kerry covers the upcoming issue of PEOPLE Magazine. In the issue, Kerry’s friends claim her marriage to Nnamdi will last because they are so much alike:

“They’re the same person. They have the same values, and are very close to their families.”

  1. I’m so sick of people coming for Kerry. She’s a beautiful black woman with talent and class. Leave her alone!

  2. The hell? Did this blogger even care to research and see that in some states marriage records are confidential? Some people just want to bring Kerry down by any means necessary. SMDH.

  3. So why don’t people go this hard against the celebs that actually deserve to be bashed, like Kim Kardashian? Nope, they rather go after the classy and talented BLACK celebs instead.

  4. This is really sad. Kerry doesn’t deserve this. All she wanted to do was keep her life private. Damn leave her alone already.

  5. Man, let a black actress with a stellar reputation, no arrest record, and all her teeth, get a little bit of recognition, and all these idiotsrush to pull her down. Why is it so hard to imagine that they might actually be one person in Hollywood who values their privacy, and doesn’t want the world to know everytime they have to go to the bathroom.

Kerry is a smart girl, she had to know the laws in Idaho beforehand, that’s why she chose that state to get married in. Good for her!

  6. I don’t even have to do any research to find out Kerry is married. Of course she’s married. What black man would pass down Kerry Washington? I’d marry her and get her pregnant my damn self.

  7. Thank you UB for this. I read it on a forum and it pissed me off! Some people are so mad and want Kerry to fail. It’s not right. And I’m tired of it.

  8. I can’t believe people are so pressed about Kerry’s marriage. Why is it so hard to believe some celebs actually aren’t attention whores like the Kardashians?

  9. I’m trying so hard not to curse on here and get edited by the mod. LOL. But this is some straight BS. Kerry shouldn’t have these kind of haters. She is talented and bothers no one. Jealousy is real folks.

  10. It’s like some people are mad that there’s actually a classy black woman out here doing it big or something. They need to sit their bitter a-ses down somewhere.

  11. So ridiculous. Why is it so hard to believe such a beautiful, smart and intelligent woman is married? I just don’t understand.

  12. I usually don’t comment but I just wanted to say I think some people hate Kerry because she appears to have it all together. She’s beautiful, smart, talented and her man is fine. She has one of the top shows on ABC and she gets movie roles and magazine covers by the minute. Sometimes when a woman has it so together, it makes some people who don’t feel bad. They are mad they can’t be where they want to be in life, so they lash out at those who are doing well. It’s sad but it’s human nature. I love her and I’m happy for her, but if I wasn’t happy with myself I probably wouldn’t be.

  13. Thanks for posting this. So since marriage records are sealed records then it WOULDN’T show up when you search for PUBLIC records.

  14. Kerry doesn’t have to fake a marriage. There are plenty of men who will be with her at the drop of a dime. And her career is on fire right now. It would be best if she was single image wise right now, so she can do the whole sex symbol thing. So none of that stuff was adding up. No one who is already on top fakes a marriage. That’s what you do when you’re trying to get there. It’s time for people to let Kerry be. She’s winning, just accept it and move on.

  15. At the end of the day Kerry married an athlete, ok, moving on, all black actresses, singers do that, the only black females in Hollywood that impressed me are Janet Jackson for marrying Wissam al Mana, the sophisticated Qatari Billionaire, Hobson who married George Lucas, the Billionarie and creator of Lucas Films. So, if she’s happy with an athlete good for her, that’s life. I’m shallow, but Janet, Hobson did it right, ain’t good money but billionaire money. Kelly Rowland is smart; flirting with Simon Cowell sexiness, he takes care of all his women past and present. Even Eve left the hood in the dust, now lives in England with her boyfriend the owner of Gumball Racing.

    1. *blank stare* I’m pretty sure Kerry didn’t get married to impress you or any other stranger. Not everyone marries because of money, there’s still some women left in the world who actually marry for love. But at least you acknowledge the fact that you’re shallow and get impressed by disposable things like money. Carry on.

    2. You’re entitled to your opinion, but this comment made me laugh out loud. It’s laughable that some women really think this way.

    3. At the end of the day, Kerry married an athlete who graduated from one of the top universities in the country with a degree in finance. He was savvy enough to negotiate the best contracts in history for a corner back. At the end of the day, he made more than 52 million dollars in the past 3 years alone. That doesn’t count his earlier days when he was at the height of his career where he made millions more. At the end of the day, he and his well educated family are very philanthropic and active in the community. At the end of the day, you mentioned all men who are not black. At the end of the day, you sound stupid and racist (self-hating or otherwise)!

  16. So if people find out her marriage is fake, then what? What exactly is the purpose of trying to discover if her marriage is real or not? It’s nobody’s business.

  17. People need to get a life. Whether she’s married or not, who freaking cares! Let her live and mind your own business. Some people spend way more time concerned with other people’s lives than their own.

  18. So let me get this straight. People bash Kim K for sharing everything about her life, yet they want to drag Kerry for being private and make up all kind of nasty rumors about her. Celebs just can’t win.

  19. As a person from the Caribbean, I see why slavery lasted so long in America. unlike the Caribbean slaves who fought many rebellions and got their freedom. this would never work in America the crab in a barrel mentality is too strong. No slaves could plan a rebellion in a America, because it would go back right to Massa.

    1. Huh? Methinks someone does not have a firm grasp of history, American history anyways. And last I checked, many Caribbean nations (with the exception of Haiti) did not get their national independence until the 20th century.

  20. Its sad that the “fake marriage” idea is pushed by a fraction of the Scandal fanbase in order to hold onto their fantasy that Kerry and Tony are a real life couple. Excuse after excuse is made to twist everything to make their fantasy possible. “Fans” need to leave Kerry alone and allow her the privacy she wants and let her enjoy her pregnancy. All the best to Kerry!
