Angela Bassett is doing plenty of press rounds to promote her upcoming film, “Black Nativity,” and it’s pretty clear the gorgeous actress ages quite well. She nabbed the December 16 issue of JET Magazine, and she gets candid about a large variety of topics such as being perceived as stuck up, infertility issues and even racism in the interview. Check out the cover:
Here are the highlights from the interview.
On her children facing racism:
“The kids were playing one day, and a blonde, blue-eyed girl said that she didn’t want my daughter to be a part of the family. My son stood up to her and asked the child how would she feel if she was treated like that, and the girl said ‘bad.’ They were only 4 years old at the time.”
On her infertility issues:
“After trying and trying, I unfortunately couldn’t have my babies. It was my reality. I heard about the surrogate option and it worked out beautifully.”
On being perceived as uppity and “stuck up”:
“I’m pretty sure that people think that I’m really serious. I know that they think I’m stern as well. People are always surprised that I’m actually fun, and not all stuck-up and mean!”
In related news, the actress is getting lots of praise for her role in “American Horror Story.” We’re glad to see she’s still getting work because she’s an extremely talented actress.
The December 15 issue of JET Magazine hits newsstands November 25.
