Here are the highlights of the interview.

On her upcoming wedding to David Otunga:

“Yes, there was a date set, and that date has come around again every year. In fact, the date may keep rolling around…when I’m ready to be married, I will be married. It’s that simple. Everyone should just chill. Our relationship is very strong. We’re both huge family people, and I’m only going to get married once. So I’m not rushing into anything.”

On feeling stronger than ever:

“I spent my twenties figuring out what I wanted to do, and trying everything. But by 30, my foundation was set. I became confident and clear about the path I wanted to take…Now I’ve really settled into myself. And I’m stronger than I’ve ever been.”

The issue hits newsstands December 6.

    1. Thank you. I don’t get that. A child is forever. You will always be tied because of the child. People divorce all the time but you can’t undo having a child with someone.

  1. I just hope everything works out. She’s obviously not quite ready to be married and she’s right, she shouldn’t get married until she’s ready.

  2. Now I got nothing but love for Jenny but she sounds kind of silly saying she doesn’t want to rush into anything with David but she’s already had his baby. They are already tied for life because of the child. Do people not understand that?

    1. Her having a child with him doesn’t mean she must marry him. As long as their relationship is strong and their son sees that, she’s good. I grew up with married parents who HATED each other and it pretty much ruined my childhood. Lastly, she basically said they’re getting married when they’re ready. Not that she won’t marry him at all.

  3. Ugh well Jenny you’re already going to be dealing with David for life because you had his child. In fact, that’s more permanent than marriage is. So to be technical, you’ve already rushed.

@Yeah I Said It! I completely agree. People don’t understand that having someone’s child bonds you for life way more than marriage does.

  4. They are already married. They live together and have a child. People get on my nerves acting like marriage is sooooooooo serious and they don’t want to rush into it, but yet they are carrying on like they are already married and shacking up and having babies. Sigh…

  5. Some women don’t want to get married. I truly believe Jen loves David, but she doesn’t really want to get married. But she should be honest with him and not waste his time.

  6. She’s trying to protect her assets and I can understand that. Marriage is cool and all when it’s with the right person but marriage is also a contract and for someone like her who has money, it can be very risky should something happen and the marriage fail and you lose a nice chunk of your wealth. A lot of people don’t realize in divorce court, often times everything is split evenly, including someone’s debt can be even if it’s not your own! There could be trust issues, there could be other things going on no one knows about and she wants to be certain. I’d rather be sure then go into a marriage ignoring things I see only to regret it later or wind up divorced in a short amount of time.

  7. I always wonder why i see Rihanna on every god dam magazine cover except Ebony, Jet or Essence. I wonder if she was born in the US it would be different. Something to think about.
