The Grammy Nominations for the 2014 awards were announced yesterday, and while many are satisfied with those who were nominated for the various music categories, there’s a lot of people wondering why K. Michelle came up empty. Especially since her rival Tamar Braxton scooped up three nominations.

The “Rebellious Soul” singer took to her Twitter account to make it clear she was not happy with the snub and she attributes her “realness” to the fact that she came up short. She tweets:

  1. Hmm…I can kind of understand why she feels it’s a snub. The album was number one in the country on the R&B charts. It’s had about the same level of success Tamar’s did and she was nominated three times. So yes, it does appear to be a snub.

  2. She’s a little too hood with her lyrics. If she wants a Grammy she’s going to have to tone it down some like Keyshia did. It’s all politics.

  3. I don’t think she’s quite ready to be nominated for a Grammy. She needs to work on her attitude and learn how to be more professional first. I think that’s what hurts her.

  4. K acts like she is on Beyonce’s level at times. It’s annoying. She hasn’t earned a grammy nomination yet and she needs to humble herself. She’s the one that wanted to be ratchet, well ratchets don’t get grammys.

  5. Did she really need to tweet this? I think this is just another example as to why she didn’t get a nomination. Her behavior just turns people off.

  6. Hate to say it but that Soul Train Music Award was her grammy. Like she said, just work harder next time. As much as she hates to play politics, that’s what the music industry runs on.

  7. I like K but she can’t be serious. Her album was decent but not Grammy worthy. She should look at it this album as a stepping stone for her career. Too many of these new artist want instant recognition. K needs to check her attitude because it will be her downfall. But I will tell y’all who did get snubbed was J.Cole. Ridiculous!

  8. I don’t care for either of their albums, but congratulations to Tamar. Only person on those lists I really care about is Bruno Mars. Unorthodox Jukebox is a great album.

  9. She is a little too hood, look at the people that were nominated in these categories. Tamar may be annoying, but I bet she can behave better in public when she’s upset than K can. But congrats to the Kendrick, he has like 7 nominations this year I think, good job ^_^

  10. I feel like she should have been in at least 3 or 4 of those categories based on who did get a nod. Her song/album was better then and should have replaced the following:
    1. Best R&B Album – (Better – Chrisette Michele)
    2. Best R&B Performance (VSOP)(“Nakamarra” – Hiatus Kaiyote feat. Q-Tip or “Something” – Snarky Puppy with Lalah Hathaway)
    3. Best R&B Song (VSOP) – (“Only One” – PJ Morton feat. Stevie Wonder)

  11. And a nod is not to say that K. Michelle would have won the category, but if you analyze the people in each group, then yes, she was snubbed.

  12. Vince didn’t have to pay for Tamar’s nominations because the girl has talent! It’s true politics plays a part, but in the r n b category, you have to literally soar unlike them pop artists!Personally I love K Michelle’s voice but she needs a little help on production and them lyrics! She’s not there yet!

  13. K michelle and Tamar Braxton are 2 totally different artist, not to be compared. Neither on beyonces level! Both great talents, but K needs to tone it down a little. Too vulgar at times for r&b. thats her problem. If you cant understand the true issue at hand, you’re not that intelligent. Dont be clueless like ms michelle. Shes too reckless & needs some proper edicate training LOL. I still got love for her ghetto a$$. she keeps it hood… a lil too hood at times smh. And you know it!
