There’s been rumors going around for a good minute about the state of Taye Diggs’ marriage to actress Idina Menzel. The talented pair fell in love as they had a successful run starring in the play “Rent,” but the tabloids have been suggesting their marriage had hit a rocky patch and some have even been claiming that Taye hasn’t been faithful.

While it’s unclear if there’s any truth to those rumors, a rep for the couple just confirmed to PEOPLE that Taye and Idina have separated. The statement reads:

Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time. Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time.

Taye and Idina married January 11, 2003.

  1. It always seemed like he was embarrassed he was married to a white woman. Did he even bring her around for the premiere of The Best Man Holiday? Probably not. Smh.

  2. Damn. I can’t say I’m shocked though. They were always in the tabloids and as much as I love me some Taye Diggs, I do think he wasn’t faithful.

  3. Who didn’t see this coming though?! I mean seriously. I’m surprised they even lasted this long! I love Idina though. Rent was my ish.

  4. Not a shocker. Most marriages between white women and black men end in divorce anyway…ironically white men and black women have the highest success rate when it comes to interracial marriages that last.

  5. I never understood this about celebrities. So, you want your privacy, but you make a public statement? I mean, the rumors have been circulating but I don’t think the world was that pressed to where we needed them to officially confirm the separation. What do I know tho….my idea of privacy is keeping isht to myself. *shrug*
