Beyonce’s latest move of releasing an album unexpectedly over a week ago through iTunes has paid off big. Not only did Beyonce secure her biggest first week sales ever in just three days, but she managed to sell even more units after major retailers Amazon and Target vowed not to sell her album.
Just under two weeks after its release, it has now been confirmed that “Beyonce” has now sold over one million copies in the US and the album is now platinum. Hits Daily Double writes:
Beyoncé occupies the #1 spot again this week and just touches the 1 million mark in her sophomore week. Meanwhile, here’s this week’s Top 25, with extra tinsel. Due to the holiday, these numbers are more approximate than usual.
Beyonce was originally projected to sell around 260,000 copies in her second week, but Amazon and Target’s snubs have backfired and massively helped raised her second week sales to about 383,000.
Congrats to Beyonce.
The slayage continues.
