Ciara finally confirmed yesterday on “The View” that she is indeed pregnant with her first child with hubby to be Future, so she she’s been doing quite a bit of press to promote her good news.

In an interview with HuffPost Live, the R&B singer actually opened up about becoming a mom for the first time, love, whether or not she plans to take a break from her music career for new mommy duties, making peace with Future’s baby mamas and even Beyonce.

Here are the highlights of the interview.

On being inspired by Beyonce:

“I have a lot of respect for her. I respect any woman who works hard and gets success from the hard work they put into it. And for someone like her, she’s been around for almost 20 years, if I’m not mistaken or at least a good 15. I’m going on 10. When I look at women like her, if anything you can only get inspired when you see other women like yourself striving to achieve their goals. It’s kind of like it’s great because it actually shows you exactly what you believe.

“I mean I respect Beyonce. I respect any woman who’s having success in this because it’s really hard world to stand strong in, to keep going on, to keep reinventing.”

On being pregnant:

“It really is a blessing. It really is the most exciting time of my life.

“I’m really excited. I’m like a little kid. You know like when the kids are getting ready for Christmas and you’re like, ‘I can’t wait to see what’s under the tree?’ I’m kind of sleeping with one eye open. That’s how I am.”

And when it comes to the baby’s gender, Ciara says she knows the gender but Future is the one who got what he wanted (this made host Marc Lamont Hill assume she’s having a boy despite Ciara’s constant reminder that she didn’t confirm anything):

“I did have a preference until I found out what it was. I had a preference at first and when I was told what it was, I felt like it was what it was supposed to be.

“My fiancé got what he wanted.”

On love:

“Love to me is very important. It’s not about the money, it’s not about the materialistic things. It’s about love. I feel like if you’re enriched with love, you will be rich.”

On the pictures she took with Future’s baby mamas that caused quite a bit of controversy on the internet:

“This is my family. These are amazing women, I’d like to say they are. I wanted to capture the moment of all of us being together and shed a positive light on what everything is with my family. It’s kind of like a blended family concept and I wanted to shed a light on that because it is so beautiful.

“It’s all about love. It’s all about positivity. And his family is my family. Anyone that comes with him, it has to be love. And that’s the same way that he is for me, so that’s how I live.

“You can’t overthink things. When things are right, they work. And people can have their own way at looking at things, and how they want to judge and speak on something but you know what something is and that’s what matters the most.”

And Ciara says she has no plans to take a break from music to be a new mom. In fact, she’s already working on her next album and hinted that she may even be dropping some new music soon:

“No, actually I’ve been recording on my album and I actually started around Thanksgiving of last year and I’m in the most comfortable creative space I could possibly be in. And I will actually be giving my fans something very soon, so I’m really excited about it because it’s really beautiful.”

  1. She seems really happy so I do wish her the best. I hope Future has changed and won’t do her dirty like he did the other women before her.

  2. I love that she spoke so highly of Bey and didn’t sound jealous at all. More artists should take note. You can win at the same time and there’s no need to be petty.

  3. I’m a little skeptical about the other baby mamas staying so “peaceful” when their baby comes. With a lot of women, everything is cool until they see you living the life they felt they were supposed to have. I just hope Ciara is prepared for things to go left again when the child gets here. They were jealous before the baby came, so it’s possible they could get jealous when the baby arrives. Just food for thought.

  4. Sigh…I can’t just embrace this whole have a baby before you get the ring generation. Sorry. I just feel black women should be doing so much better. We are the first queens of the earth and now we’re just happy to be some man’s baby mama.

  5. Chile I guess. Best of luck to you Ciara. I hope your career takes off because Future has a terrible record with paying child support. But congrats anyway.

  6. Well y’all I understand we’re a little skeptical with Future and his devotion to spreading his seed all around the whole city of Atlanta, but Ciara sounds real mature like she understands what comes with all of this and she’s ready for it. So with that being said, let’s just wish her the best and pray she continues to be this mature about it all.

  7. I was just thinking, maybe this baby will finally inspire her to actually put her career first and stop being so lazy. I mean now she has responsibility and it’s not like she can really depend on Future. LOL.

  8. Wait, he got what he wanted? He got 3 baby mamas and there is girl and a boy already so what did he want an alien? I’m confused. lmao

  9. She sounds like she’s truly happy with this situation. I don’t think I would stick around for it, but I hope she’s happy with it.
