Apparently people still aren’t over Macklemore and Ryan Lewis winning the Grammy for Best Rap Album. After people stormed to social media to make their anger known, Macklemore actually posted to Instagram a text message he sent to Kendrick Lamar in which he apologized for “robbing” the Compton emcee of the award.

Kendrick is over it but apparently Drake is feeling some kind of way still.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he says he felt posting a screenshot of the text message was “wack as f*ck.” Drake goes on and says:

“I was like, ‘You won. Why are you posting your text message? Just chill. Take your W, and if you feel you didn’t deserve it, go get better — make better music. It felt cheap. It didn’t feel genuine. Why do that? Why feel guilt? You think those guys would pay homage to you if they won?

This is how the world works: He made a brand of music that appealed to more people than me, Hov, Kanye and Kendrick. Whether people wanna say it’s racial, or whether it’s just the fact that he tapped into something we can’t tap into. That’s just how the cards fall. Own your sh*t.

Drake then goes on to say that he thinks Macklemore should have also apologized to him, Jay Z and Kanye too since they were also nominated:

“To name just Kendrick? That sh*t made me feel funny. No, in that case, you robbed everybody. We all need text messages!”

  1. I think Kendrick had the best album out of all of them so maybe Macklemore felt the same way so he only sent him that text. LOL.

  2. Kendrick’s album sh-tted on everyone else’s. But Drake said some true sh-t here. Macklemore only won because he’s white and made music in support of the gay agenda.

  3. Drake told the truth though. It was cheap for Macklemore to post that text message to Instagram. It’s like he only did it for show. He was trolling and it was so obvious to me.

  4. Macklemore didn’t care how Kendrick or anyone else felt. I don’t think his apology to Kendrick was even genuine.

  5. When most people do good deeds and it’s from the heart, they don’t feel the need to post it to Instagram. When you expect a pat on the back for doing the right thing, you might as well not even do the right thing.

  6. I agree wholeheartedly with every word Drake said! Grammy’s are nothing but politics. Everybody knows damn well Kendrick Lamar deserved the best rap album.

  7. I agree with him. And part of me is hoping that his speaking out on this is some type of indicator that the ill feelings he has toward Kendrick are subsiding. Macklemore’s album is pretty good in my opinion. HOWEVER, for best HIP-HOP album? They did rob EVERYONE in the category, especially Kendrick, considering of all the nominees, he had the better album. I do wonder though how many bridges Drake has potentially burned by speaking out on this though. Of everyone in the category, he’s one of those ones that has actually achieved the crossover to an extent.
