Since 2012, there’s been outrage in the nation over the killing of 17-year-old Jordan Davis. Similar to Trayvon Martin, the incident took place in Florida. While the teenager was in a car with three friends at a gas station in Jacksonville, he got into an argument with an older white man over how loud they were playing music. When Micheal Dunn asked the young men to turn down their music, they did so only to reportedly turn it right back up. This caused Dunn to start a shouting match with Davis, and he promptly shot at the car ten times as it was driving off, killing Davis.

Today, a verdict was reached for the Michael Dunn trial. Dunn was convicted of attempted murder. CNN reports:

The Florida jury in the case of Michael Dunn has found him guilty on four charges, including three for attempted second-degree murder, but they couldn’t reach a verdict on the most significant charge — first-degree murder in the death of Jordan Davis.

After the decisions were read out Saturday night in court, Judge Russell Healey — who moments before had said that the jury had reached a verdict on all counts — declared a mistrial on the murder count.

Many have taken to social media to express their anger with Dunn not being convicted of first-degree murder, but honestly we’re not surprised at all considering Florida’s history of “justice.”

  1. This is some damn bullsh-t! Now had Jordan done this to Dunn, they would have convicted him of first-degree murder in like two hours of deliberation.

    1. yet they’ll push sistas out of the way to jump in front of a bullet for a white woman or any other off white woman.

black men feel nothing when the story is about a black woman. they agree with it.

  2. I can understand why people are mad. He basically got off completely for killing Jordan. But those 3 counts of attempted murder will keep him in jail for a very long time. I’m thankful for that.

  3. Michael Dunn is an evil and racist piece of sh-t. He killed that child and went home to order a pizza and walk his dog like it wasn’t even a big deal. I’m disgusted!

  4. These people in Florida are constantly showing us that black men are not important. Our lives don’t mean much in that state. So I’m not surprised this bastard didn’t get convicted of first degree. But thanks for posting this. I don’t feel like this story is being covered enough in the media and the blogs.

  5. I feel for every black person in Florida the state is just giving people a pass to kill you off, if I say “oh I’m a kick your a** ” a person has the right to kill me they should be ashamed! I will never take my son to Florida that’s like taking him to a murderer.
