Solange might have gotten a surge in popularity thanks to her attacking Jay Z in an elevator. Not only is she rumored to be Beyonce and Jay Z’s opening act for the On The Run tour, but according to new reports, she also received a surge in digital music sales.

Hip Hop DX reports:

Solange’s digital track sales saw a major increase on the week ending May 18, 2014, according to Nielsen SoundScan data HipHopDX has been given.

The Texas singer’s sales were at 2,000 for the week, up over the prior week’s total track sales of 600.

The spike was likely because Solange made headlines that week after footage of her attacking Jay Z was leaked. The footage was published first on TMZ May 12. It soon became one of the most popular stories of the year as many speculated regarding the cause of the altercation. On May 15, Solange, Beyonce and Jay Z released a statement regarding the matter.

  1. Well I hope a minor boost in sales is worth disgracing her family and herself with acting like a nut. I love Bey but her sister is a certified nut job.

  2. I loved Solange at Coachella. Her band was amazing. I actually bought her record and she makes real music unlike most of the mess out today.

  3. Well I love her music. It’s sad that it takes something negative to bring attention to someone this talented.
