Actor Columbus Short lost the role of a lifetime on ABC’s hit “Scandal” because he just couldn’t keep out of trouble. And for months now his wife has been accusing him of domestic abuse amid their impending divorce.

However, Columbus was arrested once again a few days ago at a Dallas bar for allegedly engaging in a physical altercation while intoxicated.

In a new interview with Access Hollywood, Columbus opens up about his recent arrest and he pretty much says he feels the media is making his troubles out to be greater than they actually are.

Columbus says:

“The last three months, I have to say, have been one of the most trying times of my life. I think there’s a time when your personal life gets magnified by who we are as celebrities. I’ve always believed that the truth is good enough, like, sometimes the truth is ugly, right? And it’s good enough, but I think what happens in the media is they make grandiose versions of these stories. But I’m here to say today that I’m still here, I’m focused, I’m grinding. Both of those two cases that you were speaking of earlier, those are dropped. So you know, one by one, it’s just like slowly but surely just chipping away at this thing.”

He also says his recent arrest in Dallas is a big misunderstanding:

“There was no fight. I was involved in no fight. I was with a group of people that were eating, I went to the bathroom, I came back and there was an altercation ensuing when I came back. And me being [like] ‘Whoa, let’s break it up,’ it was a misunderstanding and I guess the cops thought I was someone involved in the situation. And then they grabbed me up, and by the time I was on the ground… I apologized to the officers later, [but] I said some pretty choice words [when] I was already in cuffs. But you know, by the end of it all, it all went away. It’s over, we’re moving forward and upward. One of those bad nights, it sucks.”

  1. I think people don’t really care anymore. He’s shown through his actions that he doesn’t really care about his career. And for that reason, people have already moved on from him and all of his drama. He can keep getting arrested as much as he wants to, he’s no longer on people’s radar.

  2. Boy stop. You’re just an idiot who didn’t appreciate your blessings when you had them. You’ll get it when you have to go back to making straight to DVD movies.

  3. The media isn’t adding to his troubles he is doing that himself. He needs prayer because he is obviously in denial.

  4. The media is making it look worse? Does he not understand how many L’s he’s had in the last few months? :-/

  5. The media does exaggerate their opinion. This type of press only work for reality tv. You my friend was on ABC they don’t play that shhhh.
And trust and believe Shannon(right) is not going to lose money for ignorant N***** saw how fast Isaiah Washinton was gone

  7. I was really rooting for him. But I see he still has a lot to learn and life may have to get even more harder for him to understand how this works. Best of luck to him.

  8. Well I get what he’s saying about the media but in his case the media didn’t need to exaggerate anything because the truth (his actions) were scandalous enough on its own. He doesn’t have to get in trouble every month to get in the news. His acting roles can do that just fine. But he can’t get any work now because he keeps getting in trouble.

  9. Negro please! You acted a fool and the media ran with it. Point the blame at your trifling self and quit getting all up in your feelings. Damn!!!
