We told you we thought it was very strange that Jay Z and Beyonce’s possible attendance at Kimye’s wedding was more talked about than the actual wedding itself, and when the power couple didn’t show up to watch Kim Kardashian walk down the aisle for the third time to marry Kanye, many felt it was odd.

However, Kanye is speaking out on Jay Z and Beyonce’s absence from his big day and he says it wasn’t a big deal because he still got other important people to attend.

He tells GQ Magazine:

“All that, I wouldn’t even speak on. It doesn’t even matter to me whatsoever, who would show up. Because the most important person to show up there, to me, was Kim. And that’s all that matters to me. I had to fight for that for seven years. But the fact that these other people showed up that are from such different worlds but have done such dynamic things—they’re all, in a way, equal to what Kim has done in TV or what I had done in music. I was so moved that I just wanted people to stop and think they weren’t sitting at a table full of fashion people, they weren’t sitting at a table full of celebrities, they weren’t sitting at a table full of movie directors. It really was a representation of the way we receive information today, post-Internet. And so Page Six can’t overshadow the main point: Carine Roitfeld was sitting next to Kim Kardashian. That alone to me is like the same moment when I brought Mos Def to the studio with Jay Z. It’s about the people, and the fact that they’re from different walks of life, and that they’re working together and not discriminating against each other. There was a class system, and now there’s a creative class system, and I think that’s what you were talking about a bit—the class system of creativity.”

But if you think there’s any love lost between Kanye and Jay Z over the wedding no-show, you couldn’t be more wrong. Kanye actually praised Jay Z later on in the interview:

“That’s what I like about Jay. He has longevity. He’s still at the top of relevancy from the way he moves, the way he interacts with people, his ability to brush things off of his shoulder and just win at life. He’s the poster child of winning. And I think I was the poster child of, like, fighting and winning. But you always saw the fight. And with Jay, you always saw the win.”

  1. Kanye cares too much about having famous people like him. I didn’t realize how much of a weak person he was until now.

    1. Agreed! It’s weird it’s like he is using her for something bigger he is trying to accomplish.

  2. The most important thing about your wedding day should be marrying the person you love. But Kanye seems to think it was more important to have movie directors there. Did he marry Kim because he loves her or he just really wanted a fancy wedding so he can name drop more in the future?

  3. I like Kanye but I do think he should try to talk about things of more substance in his interviews. He’s really coming off shallow, materialistic and self absorbed more than usual.

  4. I can’t stand that all he does is name drop all the time now. He talks about the same dumb ish every interview. How do you go from rapping about real issues to whining about who won’t be your friend?

  5. He lost me when he compared being a celebrity to being black in the 60’s. I hate to say he lost his mind but there aren’t any other options at this point

  6. Kanye needs to be keeping an eye out on his new wife. Reggie just got married…I’m sure she’s devastated. LOL

  7. So he’s been trying to get with Kim for seven years… That sure sounds like proof that when she was with Reggie, and he was with Amber, some cheating really did go down. We see you Kanye, we see you!

  8. Reggie won. He got a Kim K clone with no crazy a-s momma or crazy a-s family and she isn’t a fame whore. Smart man.

  9. I don’t think he understands half of the dumb things he says himself and so how are we supposed to? He is so shallow to me.

  10. I miss the old Kanye. He no longer has any substance and every time he speaks now I cringe because I know he’s not saying anything of importance.
