Several months ago we reported a young black woman was shot dead on a white man’s porch after she sought help after a car accident in Michigan.

Renisha McBride’s family wanted justice for the young woman’s murder and thankfully they got it.

According to multiple reports, Renisha’s killer was convicted of murder and may now be sentenced to life in prison.

The Washington Post writes:

The man who shot and killed Renisha McBride, a 19-year-old woman standing at his front door, has been convicted of murder.

Theodore Wafer was found guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter on Thursday, according to the Associated Press. He could face up to life in prison when he is sentenced on Aug. 21.

Interestingly enough, the Associated Press caused outrage when they actually tweeted the slain teenager was “drunk” when she was killed, seemingly victim shaming:

After the AP was dragged all throughout social media for the tweet, it was eventually deleted and reworded.

  1. SMH at the AP. Anyway, I’m glad that man was convicted. He really could have just called the police and let them handle it.

  2. I can’t even celebrate until I know that he’s not going to get 30 days in jail or some other BS sentence. Also, AP and pretty much every single news agency that reported on this story, made sure to indicate she was drunk, and had smoked weed as if that somehow justified what he did to her.

I swear, it just doesn’t get any easier out there for us! SMDH!!!

    1. They sure did & I was so pissed…..cause when lil Sally Sue & Jim Bob get killed they never say what they were doing. They try to show their families as much respect as possible. It’s so sad that this is still going on in 2014.

  3. If she was drunk that didn’t make what happened to her ok. I guarantee if she was drunk and white, nothing would have happened to her.

  4. You’re an irresponsible gun owner if you shoot someone dead for being on your porch and they pose no real danger to you.

  5. To hear him tell it, she was 6’8″, 250lbs and about to break in down the windows and doors to rob him…f-ck outta here!!!
