Beyonce’s father and ex manager Mathew Knowles is currently teaching two courses at Texas Southern on Entertainment and Management and word on the street is he’s been having a hard time filling seats because Beyonce publicly severed ties with him professionally. So Mathew has decided to go on his own press tour and talk about Beyonce to generate more interest in his courses.
Interestingly enough, he recently stopped by Houston radio station 104.1 KRBE and when he was asked his thoughts on ElevatorGate, Mathew said he feels the whole thing was just a publicity stunt used to improve ticket sales for the On the Run Tour.
He says:
“There’s a tour going on. Well you have to sometimes ignite that tour. It’s called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind tricks fool you a lot of times.
“All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everybody’s talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange’s album sales went up by 200 percent. I don’t know.”
The problem with Mathew’s theory is Forbes has already debunked it. Forbes crunched the numbers of OTR ticket sales and concluded that sales were strong from the beginning and the couple didn’t see any kind of bump or decrease after ElevatorGate. However, there was a small increase in sales after Beyonce and Jay Z made headlines for skipping out on Kimye’s wedding.
Another issue with Mathew’s interview is he also claimed that Beyonce recorded most of her recent album in his studio in Houston. Well a quick glimpse of the credits listed on her website proves this is also false, and Beyonce recorded the entire album in New York. She didn’t record any tracks in Houston.
So to us, this interview seems sketchy and we’re starting to believe Mathew doesn’t really know what’s going on in his own daughter’s life, and that explains why neither she or Solange showed up to his wedding last year.
Even Billboard isn’t buying Mathew’s theory. The music publication writes:
Clearly, all of these revelations should be taken with a huge grain of salt (like, a whole salt shaker). Life is But A Dream, Beyonce’s documentary, started with Beyonce firing her dad as manager, alluding to his personal life as the reason. Mathew and Tina Knowles got divorced in 2010 after one of his affairs allegedly resulted in a child. While no one knows exactly what Beyonce’s personal life is really like, it doesn’t appear that she has maintained a close relationship with her father these past couple years.

Not a fan of Bey at all but I know this man is full of sh-t. What happened in the elevator was real. Period. And Bey ain’t never been a good actress (just saying Hive). So I doubt she could stage anything and it wouldn’t be obvious. She look genuinely hurt and pissed in the eyes when she walked out the elevator. Her smile couldn’t conceal that sh-t either.

Anything is possible but I think he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Their relationship with him is obviously strained because you barely see him photographed with the family now and they didn’t even attend his wedding. I guess he’s desperate to get people to sign up for his class.

I don’t get why some people find it so hard to believe that what happened in the elevator was real. Beyonce isn’t perfect and I’m sure her family isn’t either. I mean look at Mathew. They have issues. Things happen. But we will never know why it happened and people just need to accept that.

It’s sad that Beyonce’s father is so heartless and spiteful. He’s still angry she dropped him as a manager. But I’m sure she saw this and now feels vindicated about doing so.
