Iggy Azalea’s career is taking off but the female rapper still can’t seem to shut down the criticism for her ability to turn off her Australian accent to spit out her rap verses.

Although Tiny’s husband T.I. helped launch Iggy’s career, she still admits she’s confused as to how Iggy manages to rap with a southern accent despite being from Australia.

Tiny tells VLAD TV:

“I talked to her a lot and she has a really thick Australian accent, of course, because she’s from Australia, but when I heard her rap, she sound like she’s from Atlanta. I’m like, ‘You sound like you from Bankhead! How does this work?’ But that’s just talent to me. She really can change her tone when she’s rapping. But when she’s talking, she’s back Australian again. So, she’s a dope artist to me, though.

“I guess she said she listened to a lot of Southern Rap growing up. I guess that’s where she picked up on it. I think that if she did rap with an Australian accent, it would be normal for an Australian person to rap like an Australian, but I just think it’s dope that she can sound so Southern…and be from a whole ‘nother country.”

  1. She nicely said what we already know and that’s Iggy is a fraud. But it won’t hurt her any because she’s a white girl. Success comes easy for her in that business.

    1. And this is the truth. But has Iggy’s album gone gold yet? That’s one thing I have to give Nicki credit for, she can sell albums.

    1. I’m not sure why you’re sleeping on Nicki though. She had the best verse on Monster and has proven that she can out rap the majority of her peers when she wants to.

  2. I’m so tired of her and TI kissing this mediocre child’s a-s. Yeah I see she did shade Iggy but she made she praised her much more like her life depends on it.

  3. Idris does it with movies. Iggy does it with music. What’s the big deal? Just let her shine so she can go away already.

Lmao@ she makes Nicki sound like Nas.

  4. I give Iggy a pass, haven’t seen her do anything that’s disrespectful to “the culture”. Could care less about an accent, all of the rappers are frauds if we want to be honest.

  5. that fancy song has me dancing a way in the club though.

but why does jax talk without and accent on Sons of Anarchy and he’s British
why does Idris talk without an access and he’s fully British
when they’re both in interviews the accent comes on strong

Listen to all british singers, they don’t sound British when they singing.

This is normal. Just give the girl her props for releasing two good singles back to back. and she being guest featured hard on tracks now. Black ppl so damn racist all the time for no reason

    1. Black people can’t be racist. We don’t have the systematic power to be racist. I encourage you to read up on the difference between racism and prejudice so you won’t confuse the two the next time you stan for mediocre white artists. Iggy is not being oppressed in any way by black people. The white media is already riding for her.

But I’m not surprised you and a couple of others aren’t upset white artists continue to steal from black music and end up more successful in this country. It’s been happening for many years, and most of y’all are comfortable with being stolen from and remaining inferior. I’m sure you didn’t even notice that black artists have to work 20 times harder than Iggy to even go platinum and have hit singles. But thanks for contributing to the theft of our culture by supporting it.

      1. If I were you, I wouldn’t even waste my time debating about Iggy with the few fans she has on here. I don’t think she will be relevant in a few years. She’s the new Kesha and has no real chance of longevity (not to mention Fergie is making a new album). People like to take shots at Nicki and turn around and take up for Iggy but Nicki will still be around when Iggy fades away.

      2. “Black people can’t be racist. We don’t have the systematic power to be racist. I encourage you to read up on the difference between racism and prejudice so you won’t confuse the two the next time you stan for mediocre white artists. ”

        THANK YOU.

    2. Tintin I literally busted out laughing while reading this! Black people are not racist towards Iggy, they are just baffled as to why “folks” are referring to her as the new face of hip hop. It’s WAY deeper than many people think.

    3. “but why does jax talk without and accent on Sons of Anarchy and he’s British
why does Idris talk without an access and he’s fully British
when they’re both in interviews the accent comes on strong” – So you agree she’s ACTING and not authentic. Me too.

  6. It’s really hard for female rappers to stay hot. So we will just have to see how long Iggy stays in the forefront. Nicki has managed to do it since Pink Friday and go platinum, Iggy hasn’t even went gold yet.

  7. I’m definitely not an Iggy stan or fan. However, you can’t be mad at her or any other caucasian artist for exploiting our culture and getting rich off of it. It has been going on forever and I don’t see it changing. The problem is SUPPORT. Do we support our AA artists like we do these “novelty” acts? Obviously, Iggy is connecting with fans at some level. We already know that these caucasian artists have it much easier in that their fans will spend money, promote, and support them. Will we do that for our artists? I’m just sayin’……
