Justice for Mike Brown: President Obama to Make a Bold Move?

With the tragic death of Mike Brown and numerous cases similar regarding police brutality and the unjust slaying of black men by the hands of the police, many have been calling on changes being made to law enforcement all throughout the country. Specifically, many want officers to start wearing body cameras so police can no longer lie when they make bad calls that result in deaths of unarmed black men.

President Obama must have heard the suggestions loud and clear because it’s being speculated he will announce he’s pushing for all cops to be required to wear body cameras.

The Hill writes:

President Obama on Monday will announce $263 million in funding for law enforcement agencies to purchase body-worn cameras and improve training.

The White House said the funding, which would need to be matched by state and local police, could purchase 50,000 body-worn cameras.

Obama also plans to overhaul how the federal government disperses military equipment to local police departments, the White House said Monday.
The announcement comes as the White House seeks to respond to protests across the country over a Ferguson, Mo., grand jury’s decision to not indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, an unarmed black 18-year-old.

The order will be drafted in the upcoming months according to sources.
