While the country remains divided on the Baltimore protests and the media provides shady reporting on the riots, some black celebrities are speaking out and getting involved.
Wale recently went to Baltimore to talk to some high school students, and he listened as they expressed their concerns on the situation.
The Jasmine Brand writes:
On Wednesday, Wale (real name Olubowale Victor Akintimehin) surprised a local Baltimore High School, paying them a visit amidst the controversy.
The rapper, along with Baltimore preacher Jamal Bryant, visited Fredrick Douglas High School and had an open-dialogue with students. Students voiced their frustration and feelings about Baltimore; it’s police and the riots that have erupted. Wale also spoke with students about their passion, along with checking out the the school’s Recording Arts Media Production Program Department.
This is awesome.
Love him.
Nice.
Wale is so awesome sometimes but this doesn’t surprise me because he speaks about things like this in his music often.
Bae.
He’s really been growing on me lately. I’m still bumping his album too.
This was nice of him.
Awesome.
And then he took it a step further and marched with the protesters. He definitely is growing on me.
I respect it.
Good sh-t.
