It looks like the popularity of the “Straight Outta Compton” memes may have translated to massive box office success.
According to multiple reports, the film has topped the box office and brought in nearly $60 million.
LA Times writes:
“Straight Outta Compton” lifted the box office out of its August funk, debuting at No. 1 in the U.S. and Canada with an estimated $56.1 million.
The robust haul was not shocking given the huge fan following for N.W.A, the rap group on which the movie is based, as well as the intense media coverage and strong word of mouth that came with the release. The movie posted the biggest August opening ever for an R-rated film, and it has become the No. 1 musical biopic.

I heard it was great I’m going to see it next week on a weekday I can’t be bothered with those big crowds on opening weekends nope can’t do it.
I really loved this movie! It was well done and worth every penny we paid.

This is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
ME and the boyfriend saw this movie this past Friday…if yall haven’t saw it purchase ur tix on Fandango…that’s what I did and it helped that I went to a movie theatre in the white people area that’s in the cut…..didn’t have to deal with any lines, nobody acting up….and no seating issues. I really did enjoy this movie. It was funny, informative and a wake up call on a lot of issues that we face even today. Proud of Ice Cube…he was definitely wise beyond his young years.
Can’t wait to see this.
