Beyonce and Solange Knowles’ father Mathew has made the headlines plenty as of late for a number of paternity tests, but he’s not interested in discussing that aspect of his personal life.
Instead, the music industry business man is doing press rounds to promote his new book, “DNA of Achievers,” which dropped in bookstores today.
Mathew stopped by the Breakfast Club to talk about his new business ventures, Beyonce, Jay Z and Destiny’s Child future.
When asked what happened to make Beyonce fire him as her manager, he says:
“I think the same thing with her mother…with her mom…she wanted someone else to style her. With me, she wanted to have someone…someone else to manage her, she wanted to run her own business. We taught our kids, both Solange and Beyonce, entrepreneurship. They grew up in an entrepreneurship household.
“I don’t know about you but I know for sure I don’t want to be around my parents as I got older. So I don’t know why that comes as a surprise to anyone. At 30 years old, you’re a grown a-s woman. Do your stuff yourself. I’m happy that most of her team worked for me and I trained them.”

I’m going to buy his book…He may be an idiot for cheating on Tina but he sure does have great business sense.
I agree. But I’m not here for his interviews though. It’s not like he’s going to say anything interesting. He can’t talk about the good stuff.
I’m sure people are disappointed he didn’t spill any “tea” on Bey. I knew this interview wouldn’t be as scandalous as people thought it would be.
He’s many things, but I don’t think he would ever throw Beyonce under a bus.
He shut Charlamagne’s punk a-s up several times. Funny sh-t.
He sure did Lol!!
Well Matty has to hustle hard to pay for all these illegitimate kids he has running around.
Is his kids plugging his book?
Nope. LOL.
He’s such a damn liar.
I know people like to drag Mathew but he’s not the worst celeb dad out here. I think he loves his daughters and he clearly let his ego get in the way of what was best for the family. But it seems like everyone has moved on. Tina even said Matt is still a close friend and they hang out a lot. So he’s not lying about being around. He is around.
He really does like to live in the past.
He handled it well. He knows how to handle the media and taught Bey accordingly.
For the most part, this was a good interview. He didn’t tell too much about Bey and people have to understand he never will.
I just don’t know if he’s still close to Bey and Solo like he claims. It’s not adding up.
This man is the kind of old man thots. He’s out here hoeing around but didn’t want to be asked about all those paternity suits. A mess.
*king*
You can tell by this interview that he’s very intelligent. Now wisdom, that’s something he lacks. If he had wisdom, he would have never put his family what he put them through.
I liked what he said about raising them up to be entrepreneurs. We need more of that in the black community.
He lied about Nas. Stillmatic was not his first number one album.
