Many agreed with Erykah Badu’s sentiments regarding Iggy Azalea’s rapping abilities, but some are wishing she would have saved her ammo for R Kelly.
Instead, Erykah praised him at the Soul Train Music Awards and claimed he’s done a lot for the black community.
Since R Kelly has been accused of some heinous acts regarding young girls, people wonder why he’s not called out more.
Blogger Cocoa Fab writes:
Now we all know Miss Badu speaks her mind and we love her for it but taking the mic to throw shade at Iggy and then lauding the “talents” of alleged child rapist R. Kelly struck us as tone deaf.
Perhaps Erykah should take a break from promoting her new music and spend some time reading the in-depth reporting on R. Kelly’s history of luring, raping and terrorizing young black girls throughout the city of Chicago.
What are your thoughts?
I can’t front. I really don’t understand why so many people still f-ck with R Kelly. That sh-t is a mystery to me.
Because he’s a black man and we often coddle them a little too much. Just being real.
Amen.
@Yeah I Said It You ain’t lying
Yet they are going in about Nicki’s brother. Wrong is wrong no matter who does it. Smh.
I doubt Erykah even wrote the joke. She went along with what the powers to be told her to do. And a lot of black people like to pretend what happened with R Kelly never happened. They’ve been having amnesia about him since he married Aaliyah. It’s messed up but it’s been like this for years. I personally don’t support sh-t he does. I can’t have that on my conscience.
This.
This writer is probably pro black women which makes this so hypocritical. What I mean by that is there’s a group of black women who are mad about the R Kelly situation because they think still supporting him means black women and black girls don’t matter in the black community. Yet they are turning right around to blame a black woman for R Kelly’s acceptance. How does that make sense to them? Be mad at R Kelly. Not Erykah. She didn’t write the biased rules of the black community.
She makes a really good point. It’s odd because I remember how many black people crucified Michael (and he was actually innocent). Those same people didn’t love him again until he passed away.
A lot of people were going on and on about R Kelly on social media though. But waiting for other artists to call him out would be a waste of time. They aren’t going to do it.
Going after Iggy was planned and urged by the organizers. It was a just a publicity stunt Erykah was asked to do.
I’m sorry but I completely agree. Too many of us are still kissing R Kelly’s a-s like he ain’t rape little black girls and even married one! We have to do better.
