Actress Zendaya got a lot of backlash after it was reported she would be portraying Aaliyah in Lifetime’s biopic, and most of the criticism stemmed from the fact that she’s biracial.
Despite that, Zendaya identifies as a black woman and she opened up about her frustration with cultural appropriation in a recent interview.

I fux with Z. I love that she uses her platform to speak up for women of color and be a role model to young women.
Sh-t she won me over when she dropped out that trash a-s Aaliyah biopic and then made me a fan for real when dragged that corpse looking idiot on E.
The best way to shut down all these white publications that fuel cultural appropriation is to stop supporting them. I don’t give them any clicks and I don’t buy their magazines either.
No lies told.
She better be careful before they blacklist her before her career even gets going.
Let them know Zendaya I love everything she stands for. Between Zendaya, Amandla, and Yara these beautiful queens have such good head on their shoulders.
This chick is growing on me.
