According to Page Six, Alex Wek seems to feel like the fashion industry has fallen off and Instagram models played a role in the decline.
Page Six writes:
“I think the fashion industry has gotten to a place where it is embarrassing. When I think of ‘Instagram models,’ I say you have to take baby steps. You cannot just walk straight onto the runway. When I was working, there was no digital. We actually worked, we used Polaroids,” she told us.
Wek, who’s walked for labels such as Chanel, Gucci, Dior and YSL, added: “Anything that those girls get for instant gratification, [they’ll] have to pay for it later.”
Amen. Social media as a whole has cheapened the fashion industry. I miss models being on the cover of Vogue as well.
Cosign. We will never have another Naomi Campbell, Tyra, Jordan Dunn, etc.
Well I think society created the problem when we started taking reality stars so seriously.
But none of those IG models are even gracing the covers of the high fashion magazines or even walking in high fashion shows…..the most they are getting is a lot of likes on IG, ummm appearing in some1’s vid, ummmm going to award shows, posing and modeling for IG fashion labels and so called virgin hair lines, being the arm candy for some no good rapper, smutting for no good rappers, becoming an alcoholic drug addict on the low…starring in a reality show……and that’s about it. So as a REAL model with integrity. grace, intelligence and respect I would not feel no way about these “fake” models….cause after its all said and done no1 is gonna remember their names, they will never be legends….just washed up broads.
For the most part IG models stay in their lanes. I’m more annoyed by the Kardashians and that other homely looking model who got put on because of her parents. They are the ones ruining fashion. The day Kim got a Vogue cover, that was the beginning of the end.
