Trina is getting ready to open up her pop up and spends some time with Evelyn.
All the sisters are coming in town to support the opening, and Trina is hoping everything will go without a hitch.
She’s really stressed out and feels like she’s under a lot of pressure. It’s also costing her a lot of money to do and she feels her reputation as a bar owner is on the line as well.
Now that she’s back on good terms with Tamar, she doesn’t want them to aid her in anyway because she feels they get along much better when she doesn’t involve them in her business or seek business advice from them.
Trina brings up the family vacation idea to Evelyn, but decides not to tell her about the possibility of Michael’s wife attending. She’s going to leave that burden to Toni.
Although their last vacation was very awkward, Evelyn is open to trying it again.
Traci meets up with her manager to hear the secret business opportunity he told her about.
Cliff tells her that a liquor company, Lazy Guy Distillery, wants her to be a brand ambassador for their whiskey line. However, Traci isn’t sure it would be a good idea for her brand, so she wants to visit and taste the whiskey first because she doesn’t want to be associated with a product she doesn’t believe in.
“If this blows up, our future is in our hands.” – Cliff to Traci
Towanda is going to therapy to navigate through her divorce.
Going to a therapist is huge for Towanda, since she struggles with opening up about her feelings to anyone.
She never thought she would ever get married because she was scarred by her parents’ divorce.
She tells her therapist that her main issue with Andre is that he is requesting full custody of their kids. He recommends that Andre joins her therapy session so they can prevent things from getting nastier than they already are.
Towanda agrees to talk him into getting therapy with her.
Traci and Towanda take a tour of Lazy Guy Distillery.
The company focuses on the rich history of blacks in the west and they want to educate younger generations about the history.
Traci tastes the whiskey and she likes it. So far the tour is going well and she decides she wants to partner up with the company.
Tamar is nervous about the song she wrote about her parents’ divorce.
With a new album in the works, Tamar decided to pen a song about her parents’ split. She decides to play the song for Evelyn when she goes to Atlanta to attend Trina’s pop up shop, but she’s nervous it could upset Evelyn.
Towanda calls up Andre to see if he would be open to meeting her and discuss their divorce.
Towanda is still feeling the effects of her parents’ divorce, so she really doesn’t want to go down the same path with Andre. However, he makes it clear that he really doesn’t want to talk.
“I mean I don’t know what we can say at this point. You’ve already made your case by filing for this divorce. So I don’t see the point in having this conversation.” – Andre to Towanda
Towanda suggests they meet so they can have an amicable and peaceful divorce but Andre accuses her of having “alternative motives.”
Andre says it’s devastating that she filed for divorce and he’s never felt like her husband.
He eventually agrees to meet her although he’s hesitant and doesn’t see the point.
Tamar and Toni go furniture shopping and decide it would be best if Michael’s wife doesn’t go on the trip.
After thinking things over, Toni decides that she doesn’t want Michael’s wife, Miss Wanda, to attend the trip. She just feels like it’s really wrong to expect Evelyn to be ok with that. Tamar agrees.
“I really thought about it when we had that conversation, ‘Maybe, you know, we need to be blended families and stuff,’ but adding the ex-wife that we thought we talked about before, that’s not gonna be an option. As a woman I thought about that. Like, she can’t do that. I couldn’t do it. If my divorce was because of infidelity, and another woman was involved…nah, I don’t want that chick around.” – Toni to Tamar
Tamar also tells Toni that Trina’s “boo” Jacent was arrested at Trina’s house the other day.
They call Towanda and Towanda suggests they meet with Trina and have an intervention. They are concerned she’s under too much stress.
Towanda meets with Andre at a bar and things go very bad.
In a confessional, Andre says he doesn’t think they need to get a divorce. However, Towanda is sure it’s what’s best for their situation.
When Towanda suggests joint custody, he tells her that he’s not going to accept anything less than full custody. He says she works too much, and he’s always been the one to take care of the kids while she was away, which is often.
“I want full custody because I’m going to be there full time. Towanda’s s not there most of the time. So I did it out of anger, I will say that. Yes, I was a little angry…little spite. So yeah, I’m gonna take her to her threshold to see how much she’s gonna fight for her kids as well. She didn’t seem to fight for them while we were in the marriage so maybe she’ll fight for them while we’re not and going through the divorce process.” – Andre
He tells Towanda that he and the kids are just “second thoughts” to her. He also accuses her of always jumping on a plane to be with her family and leaving him and the kids at home.
She just thinks he’s hurt and being spiteful and she refuses to stoop down to his level.
Towanda also says that she gives the kids plenty of attention, but he tells her phone calls and FaceTime don’t count.
When Towanda brings up seeing a therapist together, Andre gets angry and says he doesn’t need therapy.
“I don’t need therapy. All I need is my kids. And tell your attorney don’t call me no more…tell that motherf*cker to stop calling me.” – Andre to Towanda
Toni, Towanda, Tamar and Traci have a sit-down with Trina.
Trina says she has a big bomb to drop, but it isn’t what anyone was expecting.
Instead, she tells them that she’s decided to not do the pop up because she just doesn’t know if her money is right enough to make it a success.
“Ok, forget a pop up shop. I’m more concerned with Trina’s other news, this new news.” – Toni
Tamar gets annoyed and brings up the fact that Trina’s boyfriend was arrested the other day. Trina doesn’t want to talk about it and she says it’s not the correct forum to discuss the situation.
“At some point you have to start trusting your sisters.” – Tamar to Trina
Trina feels like it’s hypocritical for her sisters to jump on her and demand she explains what happened with Jacent, especially when they aren’t quick to tell their own business.
She then confirms that Jacent came over to get his things, and she heard a loud banging on the door and came back downstairs to see him in handcuffs. The episode ends before she can explain more.
What are your thoughts on the episode?
Andre is being very vindictive.
He’s acting like a b-tch.
Exactly.
Towanda just needs to make sure her lawyer is a beast because she’s going to need it.
From the previews, it looks like Michael ends up bringing his wife on the trip anyway. He’s so wrong for that.
I think Trina needs to just take a breather. She has way too much going on and she needs to cut off Jacent. I always felt like he was sketchy.
Andre is gong to do whatever he can to hurt Towanda because he’s hurt. He did not want to get a divorce.
I just think it’s a bad idea for Miss Wanda to go on the trip. Why can’t she just stay at home out of respect?
Andre is being petty, however, it does appear that he is always with the kids and she is not. I guess one of them has to work, but when she tried to go to LA for acting school I thought “what about her kids”
I don’t see why he can’t just agree to joint custody. That’s the best situation for the kids anyway.
