Issa daydreams but her reality is much more hilarious.
Issa appears to be on a date with Lawrence. Lawrence is glad that they are talking about what went wrong in their relationship, and Issa cheated on him. Lawrence fully understands why it happened and seems to be okay with it.
“I get why you did what you did now. And it hurts but… hopefully, we can move past it.” – Lawrence
However, this is only a dream. Issa is actually on a date with someone else and she was daydreaming about Lawrence. A montage of Issa going on multiple dates plays. When one of them asks why she is single, she daydreams and raps the reasons.
In the rap, she concludes that she’s single because she’s a cheater and she’s probably going to hurt the next guy she ends up with.
She snaps out of rap daydream when her date reaches out for her hand, only to knock his drink onto him.
Molly sees a therapist.
Molly is having a session with her therapist. She doesn’t want to open up much and is only talking about her accomplishments.
This is frustrating for the therapist, but Molly remains guarded throughout the rest of the session.
Later on, Molly recaps her therapy experiences with Issa while on the workout trail and reveals that she’s seen two other therapists prior to her current one.
Opening up to any of them is very hard for Molly to do.
They then change the subject to Issa’s stressful dating life and Molly notices that Issa really misses Lawrence.
Issa tells Molly that Lawrence hates her but Molly doesn’t agree.
“Guys always want you back when they know you’re doing good.” – Molly
Tasha is still in the picture but it doesn’t appear to be serious.
On a Sunday, Lawrence is over at Tasha’s place. They are having another session. He tells her that he likes that she calls him “Zaddy” during their trysts.
After they wrap up, Lawrence tells Tasha he has to go. Tasha seems disappointed by this and asks if they can get together on Thursday. Lawrence says that won’t work for him, and asks if Friday after work is good for her.
Tasha says yes and share a kiss.
Later that night, Lawrence heads back over Chad’s apartment. He’s been living there since breaking up with Issa. Once he starts blowing up his air mattress, Chad gets annoyed since it’s interfering with his TV watching. Lawrence tells him that he’s found some potential new places.
Chad then praises the schedule Lawrence has with Tasha.
“Man, you got your new s*** down to a science. You roll in on Friday, smash all weekend, bounce out on Sunday. It’s low maintenance, efficient, all upside.” – Chad
Lawrence scoffs at this and says he and Tasha are just cool. His friend then says he doesn’t even take Tasha out. He reiterates that there isn’t any pressure. Chad then says, “Pressure busts pipes.”
At her apartment, Issa is going through her dating apps . Not feeling the options, she sighs and then goes to bed, where she still leaves Lawrence’s side open.
Issa is at a new school and things seem to be overwhelming.
The next day, Issa and her We Got Y’all co-worker are at the nearby high school recruiting for their tutoring program. However, no students sign up. Then two more of their co-workers come into the class, saying they couldn’t get any students to sign up either.
Issa is disappointed that the work day was a failure.
Molly discovers she’s not being fairly compensated.
Molly is at her office, chatting with her office mate, as she’s getting ready for her conference call. When the call starts, her assistant brings her mail. She sees an envelope for a paycheck, and is impressed with the amount on it. However, she flips the check over and sees that the check is issued to her white co-worker Travis.
She’s furious he’s being paid much more than her.
Issa gets some hope.
Issa is getting ready for her day and checks the mail. She sees a jury summons for Lawrence and begins to sing and dance, because she knows Lawrence has to come by and pick up his mail. As she celebrates, her neighbor Ms Trudy interrupts, joining in on Issa’s song. She then tells Issa she doesn’t trust Wayne Brady and Issa needs to put lotion on her ankles.
Issa then calls Molly and suggests they throw their infamous wine-down party. But Issa wants their friends to bring a “plus-one.” Molly says that’s cool and then hangs up. She then texts Lawrence about the mail, asking him if he can come get it.
At work, Issa is in a staff meeting going over their tutoring sign ups. Their boss thinks they may need to give up on this effort, and go to another school. However, Issa convinces her boss to give the effort one more shot.
At the end of the meeting, Issa gets a response from Lawrence, saying he will come by tomorrow after work.
Molly does some digging.
Molly is at an after work function with the rest of her firm. She’s with her office mate, asking about Travis. She wonders if they got their bonuses early and her office mate says no.
Molly goes and sees Travis at the bar and sits to him. Molly tells him she’s thinking about asking for a raise. Travis scoffs and says he doesn’t want the extra work that comes with getting a raise.
They’re interrupted by their boss because their coworker Hannah is being honored for her work at their LA office. She is transferring to their Chicago location and everyone seems happy about it, except Travis. He yells out to Molly and her office mate that Heather was pushed out by their bosses. He then says the Chicago office is a step down and she couldn’t handle the pressure.
Molly scoffs at this, saying Heather probably never felt valued. Travis responds, mentioning that Heather should’ve said something if she felt that way. Molly mentions it isn’t easy speaking up in the workplace as a woman.
Issa’s wine down gets off to a disappointing start.
It’s the night of the party and Issa is trying on outfits, playing out how she’s gonna respond to Lawrence when he comes by.
During the party, Molly tries to introduce Issa to her plus one, mentioning that his grandmother lived in Windsor Hills. However, Issa hilariously brushes him off and confuses Molly.
Issa’s brother arrives and confirms he is Issa’s plus one, much to Molly’s annoyance.
Issa hears a knock at the door, thinking it’s Lawrence. However, Lawrence is taking Tasha out. When they get to the restaurant, Tasha asks how his apartment search is going. Lawrence seems a little distant at the restaurant, mentioning he’s stressed about moving.
Issa admits she’s not over Lawrence and the wine down turns up.
Back at the party, Molly tells Issa, Tiffany and Kelly about Travis’ check. As Issa sits down next to them, Lawrence texts her saying he can’t make it. She walks outside with Molly right behind. When they get there, Issa tells her that Lawrence isn’t coming. She admits she planned the party so Lawrence could walk in on her having a good time.
After Molly points out how ridiculous Issa’s plan was, Issa admits to Molly that she wants Lawrence back.
Kelli interrupts saying she drank all of the wine. She then sees three younger guys and flirts with them. She invites them up to the party. When they get there, Tiffany asks one of them for any “herb,” which they supply her and her husband.
Hood Yoda walks in with his crew and fellow Blood Gang members. He eyes Issa’s friend Kelli, calling her “Bute.”
One of the Bloods takes over the music and starts Blood Walking. Molly mentions to Issa that things are starting to get out of hand. People are making out in multiple corners and Tiffany is in the kitchen smoking herb. A neighbor comes over to tell them to turn the music down, but Yoda tells her to go away.
As the party continues, a fire starts in the trashcan in the kitchen and people run out. Issa, her brother and Molly eventually get the fire extinguished and Issa is overwhelmed at the mess the party caused.
Issa and Frieda realize they might be in over their heads at the high school.
At the high school, Issa and her co-worker are setting up in the library for tutoring, laying out food. Eventually two boys walk in, asking questions. They seem to be interested but they are causing a diversion as their fiends come in to steal the food. As the kids run out, one of them yells out in Spanish “We Got Yall.”
Issa mentions to Freida that they just need to know when to give up.
Things get really confusing between Issa and Lawrence.
When Issa gets home from work, she’s still cleaning up from the party. Lawrence arrives, which surprises her. She casually answers the door and gives him his mail. Lawrence then says he needs to get some things he left in the bathroom. He gets those things and when he’s walking out, he asks about the pillow, Frank Ocean. He figures she spilled something on it and she confirms such with a slight smile.
When he is about to leave, he surprisingly turns around and they kiss. Seconds later, they have s*x on the couch. Once the moment ends, Lawrence goes to the bathroom to wash up. Before he leaves, he kisses Issa on the cheek.
Issa then sits on the couch and confusingly smiles.
What are your thoughts on the episode?
They shouldn’t have had s-x. Now things will get even more complicated. This just need to move on.
I don’t think Lawrence is into Tasha like that. She just strokes his ego and that’s about all. He still cares about Issa but doesn’t trust her.
He’s definitely not into Tasha. I think she’s too thirsty.
Glad my show is back! The last few minutes had me in my feelings. I kind of do want them to get back together. The love is still there.
Lawrence’s body though >>>>>>>>>
That little situation Lawrence has with Tasha is not going to last.
Can we still call Lawrence a good guy when he’s out here using Tasha for s-x and has no intentions of being serious with her? That’s f-ck boy behavior.
Loved this episode. The thing about sleeping with an ex is it really complicates things. It will have you thinking things can be worked out when they can’t. I just don’t know if Lawrence is even ready to forgive Issa for cheating.
