Months ago it was reported that Childish Gambino was planning to drop his final album under the moniker.
He hosted “Saturday Night Live” last night and released some new music too.
The new single is entitled “This Is America,” and the visuals are very controversial.
In the video, Gambino murders a man and also shoots up a gospel choir.
Another interesting thing about the video is he and a group of black children appear to dance without a care while plenty of violence and chaos goes on right behind them.
Many feel this speaks to the black experience and the current direction of the country.
Check out the video below and tells us your thoughts.
Warning, it has some violent moments.
I never realized how talented this man is.
So many messages…wow.
I really enjoy his music. If I had to take anything away from this, I would say his point was that we’re so distracted from what’s really going on around us. And I have to agree with that.
Crazy Video. I think Donald and the director had a good eye for Black America in 2018. It’s a fitting concept.
His last album? I don’t think he should retire now when some people are just now discovering him.
This song is dope.
Eat your heart out Kanye.
Donald is pretty much everything Kanye thinks he is.
True. That’s why he’s doing the most. These youngins that came after him are killing it and he’s pressed.
lmao he has a dad body
So he’s woke now with a white baby mama? Ok lmao
I hate comments like these. Why are interracial relationships a trigger for some of you? If a black woman is successful and finds love with a white man like Serena did, I don’t get upset about it. It doesn’t take away her blackness nor should it take away Donald’s. Love who loves you back!
I need Donald to sit down and explain this season of Atlanta to me. Can he do that before he drops a new album? I’ve been so lost!
I won’t lie, I didn’t listen to Gambino until Awaken My Love. That album was everything! I’m not into rap though so I don’t know if I will be able to vibe with this song. The video is perfection though.
I appreciate art that makes you think. Well done.
