Spotify made headlines earlier this spring as the first major music streaming platform to take a stance amidst the #metoo movement gaining traction in Hollywood.
They made changes to their policy, removing artists such as R. Kelly from their promoted playlists. This was done in response for the strike of allegations R. Kelly is facing. Rapper XXXTentacion faced the same policy as he’s accused of beating up a pregnant woman.
However, artists and their representatives, led by Kendrick Lamar made threats, and now Spotify appears to be backing away from their stance.
