Shaunie’s son has to get open heart surgery.
The season begins on a serious note. Shaunie and her kids are on their way to the hospital for Shareef’s open heart surgery. The surgery is occurring after a physical uncovered an issue with one of Shareef’s heart valves.
Everyone is scared and nervous about Shareef.
Meanwhile, Evelyn’s moving into a new home and unfortunately, is experiencing back pain that’s slowing her down. She hurt herself while working out.
Reggie and Tami are married.
Tami and Reggie are finally a newlywed couple. Shortly before filming, the two got married. They honeymooned in the Cayman Islands. However, she’s not wearing a wedding ring and doesn’t want to talk about it with anyone on the cast.
Speaking of weddings, CeCe and Byron are now engaged. But don’t expect to see Kristen at the wedding. After the way things ended last season between CeCe and Kristen, Byron doesn’t want anything to do with her. Of course, his sons will be invited and involved.
Shareef’s surgery was a success and he’s back home recovering, ready to be cleared to play college ball. On another positive note, the surgery brought Shaunie and Shaq closer. They have been getting along and are friends again.
CeCe catches up with Malaysia.
Malaysia’s back and she’s been busy bouncing between Atlanta and Los Angeles. She joins CeCe who’s shopping for matching wedding bands for the upcoming wedding. Of course, Kristen comes up and CeCe purposely keeps Byron not wanting Kristen at the wedding away from Malaysia. However, CeCe tells Malaysia she blocked Kristen from calling or texting her phone.
Meanwhile, Evelyn has Kristen and Jackie out in the desert to meet with a shaman. This is for the back pain and the supposed voodoo she was told Tami performed on her. After the procedure, Kristen revealed she learned of Byron and CeCe’s engagement and Evelyn hasn’t spoken to Tami since the table was thrown in Amsterdam.
Afterward, Shaunie joins Jackie and Evelyn to talk about the good news surrounding Shareef’s successful surgery. Shaunie’s hosting an event to thank everyone who supported her family during Shareef’s surgery and everyone’s invited. Even Jennifer’s invited, although Shaunie’s not inviting her personally. Jennifer reached out to Shaunie right before Shareef’s surgery.
Evelyn isn’t too excited to be in Jennifer’s presence at this event.
Jennifer has no regrets.
Speaking of Jennifer, she’s hanging with Kristen at a cigar bar to talk drama. Jennifer took a “long break” from everyone and only spoke to Shaunie. She felt it was time to be a bigger person and she’ll show her support personally. But she doesn’t want to see Evelyn and “Linebacker Laquisha” (Malaysia). Of course, Jennifer brought up the rumor of Evelyn sleeping with Shaq, pointing out that she wasn’t the only one he was rumored to be creeping with.
“Why aren’t y’all together now?” – Jennifer
Tami and Reggie, a year into their marriage, are out with Jackie and Doug. Tami’s going to do her best to dance around questions about her relationship from Jackie. When Jackie asks if she’s invited to the wedding, Tami immediately turns the conversations to Shaunie’s event. Tami’s going to show face at the event but she wants to avoid much face time with Evelyn and Jennifer.
It’s the night of Shaunie’s heart health awareness event.
The entire cast is on their way to the event. Firstly, CeCe is accompanied by O.G. and Kristen’s going with her husband Thomas. CeCe tells O.G. that Byron wants nothing to do with Kristen at the wedding while asking Thomas to be his best man. At the event, Shareef is the man of the hour. The cast slowly makes it in and Tami uses it to say hey to Shaunie and Shareef before leaving.
She isn’t trying to stick around long enough to run into Evelyn and Jennifer.
Malaysia tells Kristen that she went ring shopping with CeCe and “felt uncomfortable.”
“You should’ve been there, not me.” – Malaysia
So Malaysia wants CeCe and Kristen to talk it out but Thomas tells them that it’s going to take time for that to happen. However, at another booth, CeCe tells her other cast mates that Byron and Kristen aren’t on good terms. Of course, Jackie feels that Byron is just in the middle of it all.
Kristen updates Shaunie.
On another note, Kristen, when she sees Shaunie, tells her about what Jennifer told her regarding that pesky rumor.
“Jenifer can never stop talking s***.” – Evelyn
Of course, this puts Shaunie on edge when she hears that Jennifer is also coming to the event. Shaunie tells Kristen to have Jennifer not show her face at the event.
Later that night, Shaunie addresses the crowd and her son, calling Shareef her, “walking miracle.”
Tension increases, even more, when Evelyn tells Kristen what CeCe told her about Kristen not being invited to the wedding. Malaysia gets called over and she tries to cool the scene down. However, that doesn’t work and things get even worse when Jennifer shows up to the event. Shaunie goes off as she’s leaving with much of the cast following behind.
Jackie confronts Jennifer about she said and Jennifer ends the episode by saying, “It’s facts.”
What are your thoughts on the episode?
Is it excessive for Byron to exclude Kristen from his wedding? Or is it what she deserves? #BasketballWives pic.twitter.com/6JvyhWM3kc
