Melody moves out.
The season finale begins with Melody moving out of the house. She’s still furious with Martell after their latest blowup and she won’t return until their gender reveal party. Before Melody left, LaTisha stops by and she’s shocked about Martell’s social media post also. LaTisha’s surprised by Melody’s pregnancy.
She then opens up to Melody about her own marital issues with Marsau. LaTisha feels very underappreciated. This conversation seemingly brings LaTisha and Melody back together in their friendship.
Kimmi overhears Maurice’s conversation with Kiwua and she’s not liking what she’s hearing. He’s not including Kimmi in the chat and it doesn’t place her in a good mood. Kimmi brings up to Maurice that he needs to loop her into major decisions like the church they’re going to attend with Monster.
Marsau wants Wanda to move out but she’s not going anywhere.
Wanda’s folding clothes and Marsau approaches her. He tells Wanda that her time was up and it’s time for her to leave. LaTisha walks in and tells Wanda that she did not agree to this. This leads to an argument between LaTisha and Marsau in front of Wanda. Marsau wants Wanda to leave but is trying to get LaTisha to jump on his side. LaTisha is in the middle and she’s stressing out about this. Wanda tells Marsau that he’ll leave the house before she will.
The next morning, Melody’s frustrated because she has to clean up the house before moments before the gender reveal. However, Martell says he’s been holding things together, taking care of the kids. LaTisha and Marsau show up first with Wanda. Marsau says it’s awkward to have a gender reveal when the parents aren’t talking. Melody holds it together enough to get through their party. Martell’s happy to see his dad show up and getting along with his mom.
The gender reveal shows Melody is having a girl. Melody is viewing the moment as bittersweet as her marriage is still rough. Martell hoped Melody would put their struggles on the backburner. LaTisha and Marsau take Martell and Melody aside to talk separately. Marsau’s surprised to hear from Martell that Melody’s looking at divorce papers. Meanwhile, Melody tells LaTisha Martell didn’t bring up their anniversary which is on the day of their gender reveal.
Marsau feels Martell needs to take this divorce threat seriously and Melody would find another man. But Martell doesn’t believe this will happen. Martell’s mood changes when Marsau tells him he’s going to feel regret in not fighting for his marriage.
Monster suggests his mom live with Maurice and Kimmi.
Maurice gets some not so good news from his son Monster while they’re hanging out at a trampoline park. After time on the rock wall, Monster tells Maurice he doesn’t want to leave Detroit for Huntsville. Monster doesn’t like Huntsville. Monster suggests his mom stays with Maurice. Maurice has to tells Monster that this isn’t a good idea.
Meanwhile, Melody arrives at LaTisha’s podcast with Martell close behind. This doesn’t go well for Martell when Melody tells him their marriage is over.
LaTisha’s surprised to see Melody distraught over her argument with Martell and this breaks LaTisha’s heart. LaTisha canceled her interview with Melody due to everything that happened with Melody and Martell in the parking lot. So, she has Marsau fill in. This interview leads to an interesting exchange with the couple.
Marsau revealed he proposed after just one month of dating LaTisha. During their interview, Marsau feels blindsided by some of their questions. LaTisha also revealed she almost filed for divorce within the first few years of their marriage of 13 years. He also learns LaTisha has a savings account just in case they divorce. This doesn’t sit well with Marsau.
Melody gives Martell a cold shoulder.
The season ends with the cast showing up to their friend’s art showcase. The Holts arrive separately and everyone knows something is still amiss with the both of them. Melody’s adamant the Holts are done but Martell doesn’t see it that way. During the event, Melody does her best to avoid Martell and Martell’s frustrated by this.
While Melody’s talking to Marsau, Martell comes over and pulls Melody aside. However, Melody’s still ignoring Martell and wants Martell to leave her alone.
