On the season 4 finale of “Insecure,” viewers who were hoping Issa and Lawrence could finally be happy together were extremely disappointed.

After Issa and Lawrence agreed that him relocating to San Francisco for a job won’t be a dealbreaker, it was another twist that could be.

Condola discovered she’s pregnant and Lawrence informed Issa of the news. Now that he has a baby on the way, Issa isn’t sure that this is something they can work through.

Molly got some relationship news of her own. Andrew realized that he and Molly just aren’t on the same page. And he feels like he sacrificed more than she did to make the relationship work. He also noticed that Molly struggles to let things go. So he came to the conclusion that the relationship isn’t right for them.

After the devastating conversation, Molly reached out to Issa so they could talk. Issa shows up and the two women are glad to be able to vent to each other like old times.

Although some viewers are happy Issa and Molly took the beginning steps to finally fix their friendship, others are upset about how things played out with Lawrence.

However, Prentice Penny explained it all on Twitter. He actually wrote and directed the episode.

And he said that the love story is actually Issa and Molly’s friendship. Check out the screenshot below.
