Tasha wants to get on the stand.
Maclean and Tasha argue about Saxe being able to convince the jury that she had Silver killed. Tasha says that she wouldn’t do the because Silver loved her and he wanted her to turn on Ghost. And the only reason she knew where his body was located is because she knew Ghost well enough to predict how he would move. She’s willing to get on the stand and testify to prove her innocence. She leaves after Maclean reluctantly agrees to her taking the stand. Afterward, he reveals that he doesn’t really plan to let Tasha testify.
Tariq has another interesting day in the Canonical Studies class. He shows up late and Professor Simmons calls him out. Luckily for Tariq, he read the latest book. But he doesn’t agree with the popular opinion on Socrates. And this irritates Simmons After class ends, Lauren tells Tariq he’s going to have to stop trying to fight his professors if he wants to pass the class. So he should say what they want to hear.
Lorenzo gives orders from prison.
Back in prison, Tasha gives an inmate named Laila the plan B pill. While they talk and get acquainted with each other, one of Lorenzo’s associates looks on and snaps a picture on his cell phone.
He later gives Lorenzo an update on Tasha. Not too long after, Monet calls Lorenzo and says that one of his friend’s sons, Lil Guap, has been on social media showing off. And doing so can get the whole family caught up. Since the young man is pushing drugs for Lorenzo, Monet wants to cut him off. But Lorenzo wants to be loyal to the young man’s father because he took a bullet for Lorenzo. So he tells Monet to let Dru handle it. Not Cane. Monet pulls Cane to the side and tells him to be low-key and follow Dru anyway to make sure things don’t go left.
Back at Tariq’s dorm, Zeke asks Tariq to write another paper for him with short notice. Tariq reluctantly agrees and then asks Zeke if he can ask Monet if he can date Diana. Zeke says this won’t happen because Monet doesn’t let Diana date. Plus, Monet wants Zeke to now keep his school and family life separate, which means Tariq will be kept away.
Tasha gets on the stand.
Maclean makes Tasha do a mock trial to prove to him that she can testify. While speaking to the mock jury and judge, Tasha says that things changed in her marriage after she was 7 months pregnant with Tariq and Raina. They were pulled over and Ghost forced her to hide his gun in her maternity dress. While she did launder money for Ghost, she had no choice, and she was forced to do so because of her education in accounting. Plus, she was cheated on and abused.
Diana asks Monet why she can’t live her own life and play professional basketball. Monet says that women in the WNBA don’t make that much money so Diana must put family first. She also warns Diana to stay away from Tariq because everyone who gets close to him either dies or ends up in prison.
When Tariq later sees Monet and Diana entering the basketball game, he asks if he can sit with them. But Monet is very cold towards him. Diana pulls Tariq to the side and explains that Monet is in a bad mood because the young men working for them are out of control. And Monet doesn’t have a choice but to continue to keep them on.
Cane causes problems.
Dru goes to see Lil Guap while he’s in the middle of a party. He tells Guap that Monet wants him to chill out on the social media flossing. It could bring attention from the cops. Guap gets mad and says Monet is on his “d*ck” because she hasn’t had any in 10 years.
Dru gets mad and Cane then walks in. Guap quickly changes his tone before Cane shoots up the party.
An angry Dru confronts Cane while they exit, and the police pull up after being notified about the gunshots. A chase ensues and Ramirez calls off his partner when he realizes who’s being chased. Interestingly enough, Cane was considering killing the officer.
Ramirez later tells Monet she has to stop working with Lil Guap because police are looking into him but she says she can’t do that.
Tasha falls apart.
For the mock trial, Tasha is cross-examined by Tameika. And it’s a disaster as Tasha falls apart on the stand. Tameika says the Ghost didn’t kill Silver out of jealousy because he was with Angela at the time. So it was Tasha who made the call for Silver’s death to protect herself from being locked up. And she had Tommy kill Ghost because Ghost wanted to end his life of crime and he found romance with Romana.
Afterward, Maclean asks Tameika to join his team and save Tasha since they all know she’s not a queen pin. But Tameika declines and says Tasha will lose. Maclean also asks Tameika why she had agreed to represent Saxe. At this point, Tameika refuses to keep talking and leaves. Maclean then says that this case isn’t about Tasha, it’s about Saxe.
When Monet and Lorenzo are catching up, they discuss the kids. Lorenzo feels Diana should be able to go to school. And he thinks Dru should take over for him because Cane is too unpredictable. Although Monet doesn’t agree with this, he tells her to just trust him.
Tariq gets a wake-up call.
Tariq gets his paperback and it’s graded as a “no credit.” Professor Simmons explains that it was Professor Reynolds who graded the paper. So that’s who Tariq needs to talk to. He does, and Reynolds refuses to change his mind and give Tariq any credit for his paper. He wants Tariq to understand that a lot of colleges are not built for black students. But he shouldn’t shy away from speaking his opinions because he wants to fit in and pass.
Monet confronts the kids. She calls out Cane for shooting up Lil Guap and the GTG’s party, and she calls out Dru for not being able to handle the situation on his own. Lastly, she asks Diana if she called her dad to convince him to let her go to school. She denies this but Monet reminds her that she’s not smarter than her mother. Eventually, Monet finds Diana’s burner phone and smashes it.
Lorenzo gives Tasha an update.
Tariq catches Zeke playing video games and goes off on him, telling Zeke he failed on his paper trying to do Zeke’s work. So Zeke will have to do some of his own work and Zeke owes him a favor involving Monet.
The favor is Monet comes by the dorm to pick up Zeke for dinner but she’s cornered into talking to Tariq after Zeke heads to the car. Tariq says he wants to work for Monet and he shows her all the money he made in hours selling pills and not even having to leave campus. He can do that for Monet but all she has to do is supply the drugs. If she agrees, he can continue to help Zeke. She reluctantly agrees and Tariq agrees to move out so he won’t get Zeke in trouble.
To keep Tariq in line, Lorenzo calls Tasha and says they will kill Tariq if he gets out of line while working for them.
