Cane and Monet tie up loose ends.

Monet and one of her men, Owl, go to see Rico. He has someone in his crew check Monet beforehand for a gun. She comes up clear and is told she must speak to Rico alone. When she sees him, they talk about the new business arrangement they have. And not too long after Rico brings up Dru being shot by his men, Monet shoots him dead. Meanwhile, Cane is trying to get rid of Ramirez’s corpse. Monet calls Ramirez’s phone and gets no answer. Cane sees her calling and gets rid of the phone.

Monet tells her henchman that they will need Ramirez to make sure he can cover up the fact that they took out Rico.  But he’s not answering and that’s strange for him.

Tariq heads to class and Lauren is there standing outside the classroom. She tells him class was canceled because Reynolds and Milgram are still interviewing students about the dead body found on campus. Tariq tells Lauren he’s dressed up because he has to testify in court on Tasha’s behalf.

Lauren offers to go with Tariq for emotional support, but he says it’s something he has to handle alone.

Dru is done with Cane.

Milgram and Reynolds interview Everett. He’s nervous and ends up telling them that Dru was there and pushed the gun away which prevented Zeke from being shot in the knee. However, with Milgram’s coaching, he recants. And then he says that he’s not sure Dru was even there with them that night because they were all very drunk. Plus, it was Zeke who pushed the gun away from the shooter.

Not too long after, Zeke comes by to talk to Milgram. They go into her office to talk alone and Zeke questions why she spoke to the police. Her doing so has resulted in investigators wanting to talk to the basketball team. And if he’s linked to a murder, his NBA career won’t happen. However, Milgram tells Zeke to let her fix it. She will make sure nothing gets back to Detective Santana.

While they are talking, Reynolds Googles and pulls up a photo of Tariq at Zeke’s basketball game with Dru, Monet, and the family.

Cane sneaks in to visit Dru at the hospital. Dru isn’t happy to see him and blames Cane for his gunshot wound. After Cane says that he does everything to protect the family, Dru says that Ramirez’s job. Cane then says they don’t need Ramirez and they don’t have to ever worry about him again. Once Dru realizes that Cane killed Ramirez, he calls Cane selfish. And he wants nothing else to do with him.

Tasha gets a new deal.

Tariq takes the stand. He is asked if he’s ever seen Ghost assault Tasha, and he says no. But he did hear about it. Saxe then asks Tariq if he saw Tasha in Truth the night Ghost was killed. Tariq doesn’t answer and then says that Saxe followed him to the graveyard the night someone drugged him. And that Saxe had someone spike his drink. He also says he knows who was involved and who knew about this ahead of the trial.

Riley looks on nervously and the judge agrees when Maclean says they all need to talk to her in the private chambers.

After the judge calls them both out, Ott enters the chambers and tells the judge to leave. Both Maclean and Saxe are told that Tasha is getting a deal. And the deal is she must say that Tommy is the head of the organization and give up everyone that works for him. If she agrees, she will be freed and put in witness protection with Yasmine. However, Tariq won’t be allowed to go with them.

Saxe must also resign. Tameika is satisfied with this.

Tasha doesn’t want the deal but Tariq urges her to take it. She later tells Tariq to pack his bags so they can run. She’s not snitching on Tommy. However, Tariq knows that Monet won’t let him out the game. But Tasha tells him not to worry about Monet.

The day she’s released, Maclean makes a statement to reporters that Tommy will be held responsible.

Zeke is out of the loop.

Riley sees Brayden on campus and tries to warn him that Tariq is dangerous. And being friends with him will get him hurt or killed. Brayden isn’t trying to hear this now that he knows she’s Saxe’s niece.

Zeke stops by Tariq’s dorm. He says he’s been trying to get in touch with Dru because cops may now know that he was there the night GTG confronted them. Tariq didn’t know anything about this. And Zeke confirms that Lil Guap almost shot him in the knee. With the police knowing that the dead man was tied to GTG, Tariq could be dragged in.

Before leaving, Zeke says that he wishes Tariq would have listened to him and stayed away from Monet.

Tariq later sees Diana and asks why they haven’t told Zeke that Dru was shot. She says that Zeke has been acting weird and asking a lot of questions. So it was best he stays in the dark for now. After Tariq says that Ramirez should be able to cover up the fact that Rico was killed, Diana lets him know that Cane killed Ramirez. So Diana tells Tariq he needs to be careful because Cane hates him. Even though things have gotten out of control, Tariq says he will be just fine. And he’ll keep Diana safe, too.

Reynolds puts it all together.

Brayden and Tariq run into each other on campus. They discuss Brayden’s last conversation with Riley. Brayden makes it clear that he doesn’t believe what Riley said. And he wants to continue running Course Connect although Tasha is out. Tariq isn’t sure he wants to keep it going but he tells Brayden that he can keep the app going and deal with Monet if Tariq chooses to move on. Tariq doesn’t have to be involved.

Reynolds calls Tariq into his office and tells him that Zeke is being looked into in regards to the dead body on campus. When Tariq is asked if he knows Dru, he says he doesn’t. At this point, Reynolds tells Tariq he knows he sells drugs. And he gets them from Dru. So he knows Tariq is involved. He also knows that Dru knows who tried to shoot Zeke that night when the basketball players were attacked by GTG. Plus, he knows Dru knows who killed the slain GTG member who was found at the pool.

Reynolds has a way out for Tariq.

After Tariq asks Reynolds why he’s linked him to all of this and denies selling drugs, Reynolds says that he can help Tariq. All he has to do is give him permission to write a novel based on his life. Reynolds says he’s fascinated by Tariq. He can share his advance money with Tariq so he can stop selling drugs. This is a lot for Tariq to think about. Not too long after, Santana comes by. And Reynolds introduces the detective to Tariq.

Tommy returns.

Tasha tries to talk Monet into letting Tariq go. She’s willing to pay whatever it takes to clear up his debt. However, Monet is not hearing it and she says Tariq was the one who came to her wanting to push drugs. Before they can end the conversation, bullets fly everywhere. Monet shoots back, Tasha ducks down for safety, and Monet’s soldier Owl is killed. When both women walk up to the windows to see who is responsible, Tasha sees Tammy’s blue mustang driving away.

After the shooting, Tasha makes it to Tariq’s dorm room. She tells him that Tommy just tried to kill her while she was talking to Monet. She wants them to pack up and leave immediately. And they have to go now because Tommy is a killer. Tariq says he’s a killer too and he needs some time to make some moves to make sure they are good before leaving. He gives her a burner phone and tells her to trust him.

Lorenzo tells Monet she needs to contact Cane for help because, with Owl and Rico dead, they don’t have soldiers for the war.

Tariq makes his move.

Monet listens to Lorenzo and finds Cane. However, once it’s clear that he killed Ramirez, Monet is furious. She tells Cane he makes the wrong choices. He tells her she’s the same way and she should have never linked up with Tariq. Monet tells Cane that Tariq isn’t the problem and he can be trusted. He even saved Diana’s life. But it’s Cane she can longer trust.

Tariq finds Tommy’s car outside of where Keisha’s son Cash lives. After Tommy says his goodbyes to Cash, he isn’t happy to see Tariq leaning on his car. He tells Tariq that Tasha is good as dead and he’ll get even for her pinning Ghost’s whole organization on him. Tommy also tells Tariq not to call him uncle again because that ended when he killed Ghost. Tariq says he had to do it because Ghost was getting ready to snitch on him about Ray Ray and Tasha about Keisha.

At this point, Tommy tells Tariq that Keisha’s death is another reason why he’s going to kill Tasha. Tariq says Tasha is all he has left and Tommy says that is his fault. Regardless, Tariq says he has a plan that will get all three of them what they want. In response, Tommy tells Tariq he has two minutes to explain.

Tommy “crashes and burns.”

Saxe gets a text from Maclean telling him Tommy is back and trying to kill Tasha. Also, his mother Kate’s black BMW was reported stolen. He plans to use this to get his job back before he officially resigns. Saxe comes up with a plan with Tasha and Tariq.

The plan involves Tasha baiting Tommy to kill her while she’s driving around with Saxe in the back. Tommy arrives in his mom’s black BMW and the police began to chase him as he chases Tasha. It looks as if he ends up crashing the car and it blows up before police can get to the vehicle.

Tasha texts Tariq and tells him to get the money so they can leave town. Tariq texts that he’s en route to get it before meeting with Reynolds for the money.

Reynolds goes too far and forces Tariq’s hand.

Before they depart, Reynolds asks Tariq who killed the GTG member who was found at the school’s pool. He asks if it was Dru.

Cane rolls up on both men with his gun drawn and shoots Reynolds. Reynolds falls to the ground and begins to bleed out. Tariq tries to talk Cane out of killing him but Cane accuses him of snitching on the family. Tariq says that’s not what happened but they must do something about Reynolds. He talks Cane into handing him Ramirez’s gun so they can frame Reynold’s death on Ramirez, who is a crooked cop anyway.

After Cane agrees and walks away so he can have an alibi and be seen in public, he hears Tariq shooting multiple times. Even though Reynolds begged for his life, Tariq explained to Reynolds that his snooping put him in a position that cost his life. And he can’t allow the book based on his life to ever be written.

Afterward, Milgram reads an email from Reynolds saying he was wrong about her but she was right about him. And he’s going to fix it.

Maclean gives Saxe another chance.

While Saxe is packing up in his office, Maclean stops by and asks him what’s next. Saxe says he will be working at his little brother’s hedgefund and he’s not thrilled. Maclean then tells him he can work at his firm. On the back of his card, he writes down the amount he’d pay Saxe. And he says he knows it’s the most money Saxe has ever made.

Saxe is happy with this offer.

Tasha is devastated.

Tommy calls Tariq and gets confirmation that the feds believe he’s dead. And Tasha won’t be testifying against him. While they speak, he lies and says he’s on the highway to leave the city. They say their supposed final goodbyes.

When Tariq ends the call, he calls someone and says he needs their help immediately.

Tasha goes to the graveyard to say her goodbyes to Raina. Tommy is there and waiting for his chance to kill her. Tariq is there too to meet her. She tells him that she decided to leave Yasmine with her mother so she can live a normal life. While Tasha is ready to go, the feds pull up to escort her away into witness protection. They say they were told another attempt was made on Tasha’s life. So Tommy has to fall back into the shadows before making his move.

Tasha breaks down in tears and tells Tariq she doesn’t want to leave him. But he tells her that she has to go so she can be safe. He can take care of himself.

Monet shuts down Tommy.

As the feds pull away with Tasha, Tommy walks up on Tariq and confronts him for saving Tasha. Monet then pulls up behind Tommy with her gun cocked. She tells him that she should kill him for killing Owl and shooting up her bar.

At this point, Tariq tells Tommy he knew he wouldn’t keep his word and would still go after Tasha because Tommy holds grudges. So he had to make sure she got far away and beyond his reach. Bitter by this revelation, Tommy tells Monet that she better be careful about Tariq and he’s just like Ghost.

Tommy leaves and Tariq hands Monique the cash he owes her. She asks if he really killed Ghost and he says that Ghost never die before leaving with Monet and Diana.
