Some “Basketball Wives” viewers have been critical of OG.
OG has been receiving a lot of support on social media from “Basketball Wives” fans. Last season, she said she believed she was a victim of colorism. For her, it’s the only way it could be explained that some of the cast members refused to film with her. And their reasoning was they feared for their safety. In their opinion, OG was too violent and aggressive. However, OG has never been in a physical altercation on the show. In fact, others have, including Evelyn Lozada, but they weren’t iced out of the group like OG was.
She discussed this more in-depth on the current season. While talking to Kristen Scott about colorism, OG voiced her concerns. She also explained to Kristen the most she believes Kristen was colorist towards her. One thing she pointed out is that she thinks Kristen was too fast to support Evelyn. And that is due to colorism.
Many people agreed with OG on social media. However, others have been criticizing her perspective. They have even accused OG of being insecure. This didn’t change after the recent episode of “Basketball Wives.” On the episode, OG opened up about a teacher telling her she wouldn’t amount to anything because she’s black. This happened while she was a child.
OG responds to her critics.
OG took to Instagram to break some things down for people. She posted a clip of a video in which a child picked out what they thought was the “bad” doll. And the darker doll was consistently chosen over the lighter one when negative traits were proposed.
In the caption, OG wrote, “Warning this study is very heartbreaking. But it is important to EDUCATE yourself on methodical systematic poison in this society.”
She continued, “iWAS ASKED TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWiNG QUESTiON WHiLE FiLMiNG: “WHEN WAS THE FiRST TiME YOU EXPERiENCED RACiSM OR COLORiSM iN YOUR LiFE?” iANSWERED “THEM”: WHEN iWAS iN FiRST GRADE..FROM AN ADULT. (ABOUT THE SAME AGE AS THESE CHiLDREN). iSHARED MY FiRST EXPERiENCE..iN HOPES THAT THESE PEOPLE WOULD FiNALLY COMPREHEND..JUST HOW WRONG THiS TYPE OF BEHAViOR iS..CLEARLY TO NO AVAiL..(TERRiBLE EDiTS).
OG added, “YOU SEE MY FAMiLY MADE SURE, AT A VERY EARLY AGE..THAT iKNEW MY WORTH, MY iNTELLiGENCE, MY BEAUTY, MY CULTURE AND EVERYTHiNG THAT MADE ME GREAT!..”
And she concluded with, “MY PRiDE AND MY CONFiDENCE MAKES OTHER PEOPLE UNCOMFORTABLE..NOT ME..
